There was some discussion earlier about the quality of recruits under Les Miles. Lord knows, there have been some mistakes. But, I defy anyone to show me a bunch of better young men than LSU has had over the past several years. Not perfect. But, I'm old enough to be their (well, I was going to say their father) grandfather and I ain't got that perfection thing right yet. None of us, except maybe Clair, knows much if anything about what goes on behind the scenes. But, there have been enough examples of players doing the right thing, and doing it privately, to believe that what we see is the real deal. No prima donnas... competitors, yes. Guys who want more than anything to play every down if they can, yes. But, also players realizing that sometimes they must suppress their ego for the betterment of the team. Anyone who is more than just a casual LSU fan can name several instances of players showing that they are quality. An article in today's Advocate provides just one more in a long list of examples. http://www.2theadvocate.com/columnists/rosetta/29656589.html
Great story!! He did the right thing and I just hope he stays around to lead this team until he graduates. Having a great coach helps. All of these kids are given the world on a platter, and its the ones like Lafell who make the best of it. Nothing like getting a free education, walking out of that tunnel, wearing a national championship ring, and graduating from LSU to get a great head start on life. Being a GREAT COACH is doing a lot more than just winning a football game and those kids are fortunate enough to have one. :geaux:
