It doesn't really matter is Harris can throw... the question is, "Can he find the third progression?" If you can, LSU will be hard to beat.
I quite agree. If Harris can read a defense and locate the open receiver, we have the backs, the line, and the receivers to compete for the title. But let's see if we have gotten past "is it left or right" and finding the first progression. Just winging it doesn't play in the SEC West. Some very determined and unpleasant gentlemen are going to make his life difficult on September 12.
That's a really good point. We know he has a cannon. Can he deliver the ball to his 2nd and 3rd read, can he protect the football. Does he look upfield when the pocket collapses or does he just tuck tail and run.
He doesn't need the skills of Peyton Manning. I'll be happy if he can just find his second read and not keep his eyes focused on the primary.
Hell, with his running ability, even the second progression would work. "First guy covered, second guy covered, time to go" is not a bad plan for Harris.
May not work if it's expected though. Teams are gonna dare us to throw, and I imagine they will know Harris is more likely to tuck it and run. If he can channel his inner Rohan and keep his eyes upfield, maybe complete some ad lib routes like Davey and Reed were famous for, that would be nice.
Does he even have an inner Rohan? Rohan was a huge guy for a QB and could stand in the pocket and still deliver accurate passes while being hit.
Harris will be fine if CLM sticks with him. I think that Jennings has peaked and won't get much better. I'm hoping that they stick with Harris no matter what. Jennings would be better suited as a backup
