That article Hatcher posted above said this:

[District Attorney] Miller said the sexual battery counts were the result of Mettenberger grabbing the breasts and touching the buttocks of a woman at a bar in Remerton, Ga., on March 7.

I don't think you get arrested and then plead guilty to sexual battery and issue an unequivocal apology if what you are referring to is what happened. I suspect he was pretty drunk and she was VERY against him touching her. Here is the "vanilla" of what happened:

as would i, if i had a daughter. i know you weren't responding to me directly, but i wasn't trying to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. what i was trying to say was that i see this HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, far too often. again, that doesn't make it right, but some of these girls should foot at least part of the blame. not all, but some.

Um, that's what we called it in the 70's, too.

    Gotta love a slow dance....

Zach "The Zealous Molester" Mettenberger was the Rivals #11 pro-style QB for the 2009 class. Compare to the LSU QBs:

Jarrett Lee: Rivals #7 pro-style QB for the 2007 class
Jordan Jefferson: Rivals #8 pro-style QB for the 2008 class
Zach Mettenberger: Rivals #11 pro-style QB for the 2009 class

As a female, I'll chime in:

I hope CLM and staff check everything out thoroughly.

I have seen both sides: had a female friend (who most definitely said 'no'...once she realized what was going on) drugged and date raped at LSU after a football game...she had the physical damage to prove it (to put it lightly...or to not get into many gory details). I had another male friend falsely framed by his crazy ex of raping her in a dorm parking lot (her claims seemed legit and freaked everyone out when I was at LSU *cough* *mumbles* years ago...but they were ultimately proved very false).

*side note* I was 'let go' from the Junior League in Baltimore because of my refusal to back their opposition to a law requiring that women who reported rape/sexual battery crimes undergo a lie detector test. I saw enough during my years at LSU (working in a bar for part of those years) to know that women are harassed (and worse) all the time, but likewise, false accusations are a weapon used all too often by women with a grudge.

    That said:

The dude could have made a very dumb mistake while under the influence of a **** load of beer (working in a bar for *cough* years, I saw many mistakes by people of both sexes while drunk). He could also be a Cecil "I just broke into your apartment so I could cuddle with you' Collins.

And BEYOND the fact that he *might* have issues regarding women that are (to put it lightly) potentially 'troubling', the fact that he got into trouble in the first place (the underage drinking, false id, groping a woman) while a high profile scholarship athlete at UGA is something worth thinking about...beyond the actual crime he was charged with, his lack of self-control knowing that he was a person in the spotlight is troubling, IMO.
