I think Shepard was recruited knowing that he would eventually be a WR. We were the only team willing to give him a shot at QB, and he took it. They humored him for a season, and now he is what they wanted him to be all along.

He threw no passes last year. Not ONE. Ever seen a "QB" play as a RB/WR and not pass once in a season? I don't think it was ever in the cards.

Did we ever run the option with Shepard last season? It would have made a hell of a lot more sense than running it (badly) with Jefferson, which makes me think we didn't.

I know we ran it once against UGA. Shep and Trindon, Shep kept it and nearly broke it...but basically tripped over one of the hashmarks or something. It was beautiful until he went down.

    This...

Did some of you actually go into meltdown over Lee taking the MLB route? Really? Hope none of you run your own business. You'd have a heart attack at 30.

I never really saw people go into "meltdown" over it. There was a lot of discussion as it was the news of the day. I wouldn't call that meltdown. Most of what I saw was surprise at what the Dodgers offered and agreement with Lee's decision.

Bailey also was offered By UAB to take over after Joe Webb(who is now in the NFL). Would have had other offers too but made it clear he wanted to stay home.

Ok I'm officially in the Bailey camp now. Getting my "Put in Bailey" chant ready for the first incomplete pass JJ throws.
