Dominique Blackman- 6-foot-5, 242 lbs. Carson High School (Carson, Calif.) Last season at Carson, Blackman passed for 1,673 yards and 14 touchdowns. LSU's shown some interest and he's hoping for more but we're waiting to see how his season goes.
He did pretty well at the QB camps this year. I saw him in person at one of the spring practices and he's huge. Very nice kid, lots of potential, no issues with academics. His technique needs some work but Crowton can do that. I hope he ends up with a good fit.
He's way down on Cali's and Rivals list but supposedly, like you said, has a lot of upside and why we're waiting to see some more. He's been offered by several schools, I think mostly Pac 10. You prolly know more about that than I do. Another JR?? He's a huge rascal.
Do we really need a QB this year? Ryan will be here for 3 more years and then we have Lee who will be redshirted. Next year we will have some big QB recruits looking at us, so why not wait?
Says who? One more faux pas and he's history- and that's not even getting into his production, or lack thereof. One QB?? Got to have a backup and this guy could very well fit that bill. Who knows what next year holds but I'd rather have one extra than be one short. They're always one play away from a season ending injury. Look at USC: Booty, Sanchez, and Mustain......Plus: Duron Sylvester, Tom Harwood, & Tyler Davis. Ever hear of Jeremy Bunting and/or James Welker? They're QB's for us.
Miles, like most coaches, wants 3 QBs on scholarship at all times. Next year we'll only have 2 if we don't sign one in this class - and that is without even considering that Ryan has been in some trouble & could be kicked off the team if it continues (although I don't expect it).
I guess so. I just hate getting a QB every year, because then you wont have many QB's that start for more than one or two years.
It's understandable what you're saying but it's the nature of the game. Not everyone will get a chance to play, usually only the top drawer players. The pine is filled with average to good QB's who don't get much more than mop up opportunities. Still, riding the bench at a top school, learning from great coaches, backing up star QB's, running the practice squad for pro style offenses can have it's advantages. Just look at Matt Cassel. Besides, one significant injury to #1, doesn't give much padding nor enough rest for the next guy up. I think you need one or two guys to throw during practice anyway.
Darron & DC Jefferson were both working at QB for LSU's camp. It looks like DC may be our guy, with DT as an athlete that can move to WR.
