LSU is one of the very best in the nation in red zone efficiency. This was the case before JJ was re-instated. This is what leaves me scratching my head about Miles bringing him in when we get past the 20. The switching of the QB eats up time, we end up having to burn a timeout, and we're not any better off because of it. I like him bringing in JJ for a drive here and there, but the shuffling of QBs within the same drive is really frustrating to watch.
Lee has been exceptional for us, and is definitely not getting enough praise for how well he has played/managed games. Jefferson is great at running and scrambling, but he is absolutely terrible in the pocket. All the pre-season hype about how he has made huge improvements in his passing game have yet to show. I just don't think the guy has the pocket presence to be a great passer, but I do like that he gives us a different look on offense. It is great to have the threat of the run with him in. Let Bama load the box against him on a run play and watch him just dump it over the top (doesn't even need to be a pretty throw, & probably won't be) to RR or ODB for an easy score.
Well JJ did execute a play call that had our TE catching a TD. I would say they have expanded the play calling for JJ in the redzone based on that one play call.
In my opinion, every LSU fan, should personally write Steve Kragthorpe a letter thanking him for the job he has done with these 2 quarterbacks. What a difference it makes to have an actual coach, coaching up the QB's. Makes me wonder what we could have done the past 2 years without the dark cloud known as Gary Crowton hanging over these quarterbacks.
LSU after figuring in the first half of the Auburn game: 107-167, 64.1 %, 1396 yards, 8.4 ypa, 15 TDs, 1 Int, 162.73 QB Rating That is good enough for 10th ranked nationally as a team. Ahead of Oklahoma State, USC, Clemson, Arkansas, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Oklahoma and any and all SEC teams. Last year, we were 92nd with a 117.59 rating.
Goddamit Tigers, I gotta update my stats again. 109-169, 64.5 %, 1433 yards, 8.5 ypa, 16 TDs, 1 Int, 165.78 QB Rating 8th in the nation
