Jarrett Lee is now 19th in the entire nation in qb rating. 155.40 Ahead of such notables as Matt Barkley, Nick Foles, Tyler Wilson, Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill, Aaron Murray and AJ McCarron. He is barely behind superstar qbs Landry Jones and Brandon Weeden. He is number 2 in the SEC behind only Tyler Bray. Tyler Bray is hurt and will not play his two toughest opponents so he will not count in any reasonable person's eyes when looking at this list (credit Fishhead for this caveat). LSU is number 1 in the SEC in qb rating with 158.15. Arkansas is 2nd with a 153.14.
Didn't he used to be the QB at Tennessee? I get that he's played 5 or so games, but I refuse to count Bray ahead of Lee considering he won't play again until the last game of the season. I'd be pissed if he winds up with a higher rating playing only half the season...and not having to play us or Bama.
mauck was a runner in 01 and 02 but not 03. saban even said being less of a runner (remember his injury--ankle?) made him a better qb.
Get off of it, will you? You are obsessed with this. :insane: I'm entitled to my opinion. That's what I think we will see from Les. A lot of Jefferson in the red zone.
Peterson bobbled his way out of a sure TD, not Jefferson's fault. And had we gone aggressive, Jefferson would have snuck that TD across on 4th down, no doubt. 3.5/2 ratio is still very good, and it should have been 4.5/1. There is definitely no issue with Jefferson in the redzone. Pretty amazing in fact that he can come back without practicing like that and be that valuable to the team already. That's the angle you should be taking if you're being fair about it. And this coming from a stats freak. But them stats lie.
Never said the stats were bad. LSU as a whole is very good in the red zone. I also think Jefferson is playing pretty good. I do however think we are calling very limited plays with JJ in. Maybe this will change as he gets more playing time. I think both QBs are playing good and if Les wants to play both they both look like they're able to handle it. I just wish people would stop with the whole "red zone QB" thing because even looking back at the stats over last year Lee was better in the red zone. But JJ in the red zone isn't an issue to me because we're so good in it. The biggest issue I have is swapping QBs mid drive and putting Lee in for 3rd and long plays. I'm impressed with how both QBs have handled that. Who'd have thought Lee would be 19th in the nation in QB rating. Feels good to finally have a QB.
I agree. I think we will see a lot of JJ in the red zone. Les likes to use him in it. I'm just arguing that stats prove he'a not the best option. He's certainly a good option. Just not the best on the team. And I'll get off this point when stats change or the myth that JJ is the best option changes.
