Me either. I think he will come in on obvious short-yardage rushing downs. 90% of the teams in the country will run a quarterback sneak on their own 1-yard line. Might as well put in the strongest and biggest quarterback if they know it is coming.

Also adding another running back and the option play inside the red zone complicates a defense's day. With no deep pass option to threaten with, teams will load the box. Jefferson can hit the short pass, hand off, run the option and the quarterback draw. And there is nobody I'd rather have the ball on a broken play than Jefferson. When he has to scramble . . . he can do it.

I love, LOVE what JJ has been doing with his feet. He was running with a hard-nose style yesterday, as if taking a cue from Ware. However, I really wish they'd let him toss it around more. He really needs the reps in case Lee goes down. He also looked pretty dang sharp passing against UF. I'd really like to see how much he's improved.

We will definitely need his wheels vs bama. Saban's defenses typically have a bit of a weakness against mobile QBs. Not to mention that they haven't seen a QB like that this year.

I agree. In the Tenn game, JJ had some passes where he put too much juice on. He was right on the money in another. I hope in the Auburn game, he's allowed to pass more to get himself in the right passing mode. He's already proved that he can run quite well. His running ability should help open up the pass.

Noticed that when JJ's drive stalled in the Tenn game, the coaches inserted JL for the 3rd and long, and he completes the pass for a 1st down:thumb: That tells me the coaches are confident in JL. Let's hope JL does just as well against Bama when they surely will bring in the heat. Good thing is that JL has faced them before.

If this were true why are we worse in the redzone with Jefferson?

We've had this argument before, but now I have 3 games of stats this year since JJ's been back, which just continues to support what I've been saying. JJ is not a better option in the red zone. He's worse. I wasn't sure how to handle JLee driving into the red zone and making plays inside of the red zone and then JJ being put in, so I gave half credit to each QB in those situations.

Here's the stats for the last 3 games:

    JLee TD's vs FG's in the red zone: TD's 10.5 / FG's 1

    JJ TD's vs FG's in the red zone: TD's 3.5 / FG's 2

We had 3 drives that resulted in TD's where both QB's played in the red zone.

The one drive of JLee's that didn't end in a TD while in the red zone was 3 straight hand off's that happened after the Brad Wing penalty. Every red zone that JLee has thrown at least 1 pass in has resulted in a TD over the past 3 games (I'll check the stats for the first 4 games).

It's a MYTH that JJ should be our short yardage QB, because we simply don't produce as well in the red zone with JJ as we do JLee.

If you take out the stupid 3 hands off away from Lee, he'd be perfect in the red zone, 100% TD's. JJ simply isn't anywhere near those numbers.

Can we just kill this myth already? Please. I'm fine with JJ playing. If Les wants to use him as change of pace, do whatever. As long as we win I don't really care. But don't try and justify using JJ because he's our "short yardage QB". . . .the stats simply don't support this.

Well .. not to be a party pooper .... BUT .. after watching the BCS countdown ... all I see is clips of Jefferson. Jefferson this, Jeffreson that. Questions to CLM about Jefferson ....

WELL .. FOLKS ... Jefferson is NOT the QB that beat UO ... or WVU. I'm not going to let people take the spot light off the QB that won those games for us, and has been intergral in our improved scoring ability this year. Jarret Lee is rocking ... and I hope to god that between the media hype, and some good performances by JJ, people don't start questioning just who should be the starting QB ..... thankfully, CLM said it again tonight .. JL is the starter .. we like him in that role.

Jefferson is doing good, but I'm not going to jump on the band wagon that this team would not be where it is today if it were not for Jefferson.

As I've noted earlier ... JJ is doing good, and I"m happy about it, but until I see otherwise, I have to assume it is because JJ does not have any pressure on him. When he gets pressure, he's less likely to execute and instead, tucks and runs, as if he can win the game by himself ... last year proved .. he can't.

CLM is playing this duo right. JJ's being brought in when the score is up, or in certain situations, like short yardage. Let's hope it continues.

I still want credit for another TD pass for Lee.

    I'm with ya! :thumb:

Maybe the coaches will turn him lose against the Barn, and he can put up 4 TDs ... to make up for the one he was robbed of against TN.

    I got my wish.

Lsusports.net is reporting the scoring change.

This should now put LSU number 1 in qb rating in the sec.

    Updates on the first post.
