All I can figure is that Les doesn't think Lee is any better of a passer and at least Jefferson offers some ball-carrying ability.

WHY NOT START LEE JUST TO SE HOW THE OFFENCE REACTS TO HIM AND IF HE STRUGGLES EARLY PULL HIM AND PUT JJ IN WE HAVE TO HARD GAMES COMMING UP TENN. AND FLORIDA HOW LONG WILL MILES AND JJ KEEP SAYING WELL HE'S STILL GROWING AND LEARNING.

Yes. Randle was hesitant about LSU because of the QB situation. He didnt decide to commit until he decided JJ had promise.

Shaky QB play isnt going to help with receiver recruiting this year either.

Fair enough. He's also had too many dropped passes, which hurt all the more when your passing game is on the rocks. Whichever way we slice it, he has NOT had a lot of experience. Still many of us are hoping that by game 4 of his junior year the play would be better. That said, QB is probably the most difficult position to develop and the reason so many NFL QBs were relative no-names in college. It takes time...beyond even the 4 college years.

Unfortunately watching JJ on the sidelines yesterday I had the impression he was frustrated and possibly stressing. So unless he's a type that thrives on stress, that may not be a good development. Might be another reason to give Lee time, to take the pressure off JJ before his confidence is destroyed--like they did to Lee his freshman year by leaving him in too long.

:geaux: Maybe they were surprised a pass actually got to them? :rolleye33: Seriously though, it's time for Lee to get his shot. I don't care what happened in '08. That was two years ago, so let's see what the kid can do now. Let's see if he can lead this offense and give them a spark since there's no way he can be worse than what we've seen out there from JJ so far. If he is, oh well. But at least see what he can do. I believe he's earned his shot and JJ has shown without a doubt that he's not the answer to running this offense, IMO.

At this point I'm ready to trade in JJ's ability to run/scramble for the possibilites that Lee can get the ball to our WR's/TE's more efficiently. JJ can't run the option anyway, so what are you really losing? LSU can't continue to have 80 yds passing & continue winning in the SEC. It just ain't gonna happen! :nope: The better SEC teams will just load the box, stop Ridley, Blue, etc. while knowing all the while there's no way in hell JJ will hurt them through the air. They'll be right and that's sad considering the all the talent that's just waiting for someone who can get them the ball out in space. Can you imagine our offense if the opposing DC actually had to worry about Randle, Tolliver & Shep hurting them with receptions!

And if Lee throws an int or two, so what!? JJ did that last night! Time to try another option (no pun intended). Lee may not be the answer but we won't know 'till he plays more than one series and attempts more than two passes. Let him try! And at the same time let's hope that Mettenberger comes to LSU next year. :LSU231:
