You didn't have to mention Lee because he was apart of game 1 and hurt our field position and time of possession. Since we couldn't run the offense without a QB at all, JJ stepped in and managed the game better and helped the team win the game. Not losing the game as you say also means to at least help win. I am not trying to say JJ was a great option, just that he put us in a better position to win that game and deserves more credit for that win than he is given.
Agree and they were exposed in that game. JJ got us in close enough to kick the FGs by running the option. If M Ford had not stepped OB we would have had a TD winning 13-6. That was an option as I remember.
And in a game where defense, field position, positive yards and turnovers were paramount, he completed 60% of his passes, didn't turn the ball over and was our second leading rusher behind Ford and third for the game. He did more than help us "not lose" this game... JJ has more than his share of bad plays and games but give credit where it's due... Also, let's face it, our O was bad back then with the "meercat", running into 10 man fronts and the option to the short side of the field (btw, Ford's almost TD was just that)... We got Coach Cam now so let's see what he can do with the QBs we have on the team today...
Lee was pulled after a horrible, NO LOOK interception in Game 1. JJ came in and you can call it what you want, but he helped us. Made a few throws. Made a few nice runs. Moved the chains. We won. So the idea going into the rematch was that JJ and his running style was better for US, against Bama. We had beaten Bama the previous year (2010) in Tiger Stadium with JJ as QB, and he played a pretty good game.
Is this the one where the gumps had quite a bit of momentum late in the game, LSU 3rd and long deep in their own territory needing a 1st down to seal it. That game? The one where he brought in Lee to throw said pass? Was it that game?
