From Rivals, they say he list LSU as his favorite at this time. What is the story with this kid? He looks promising and we need to fill a QB spot.
I haven't seen his highlight film, but from what I can gather, he's only a decent quarterback with not much of an arm - likely a 3 star. As a WR, could be a low 4 star. If we take him as a QB, I hope we can get another one who's better... He may fill the need for an athletic QB though. Or we may like him as an athlete, and want to see where he fits in once he gets here.
Is it just me or does it seem like this staff is making some questionable offers this early in the recuiting game? Elway, Duplessis, and now Thomas?
I wouldn't count on rivals or scout to know if a kid has a real offer - they only ask the kids and half the time they don't know the difference.
Saw his highlight films on Rivals. No, he's not going to dazzle anyone with his arm strength, but he is quite accurate and made some good reads. Remember, a program can still be successful with a QB that doesn't have a lot of arm strength. Florida won 2 National Titles while having two QB's that threw more like girls and less like QB's that were simply "lacking arm strength".
I agree he doesn't seem to have a "Cannon". but he lofts it a couple times for about 40 yards with relative ease. What really sticks out IMO, is his athleticism. If he gets the corner, or is left a small seem he's gone. That 4.52 40 is real, it might be even better than that.
Posted this on the QB thread here. The 6-3, 203-pound signal caller out of Aldine High School in Texas recorded 1,500 passing yards and 700 rushing yards last season. He hit pay dirt 21 times total, either throwing or running and earned first team all-district. Thomas has 14 offers, but said LSU is his No. 1 team. I guess the entire coaching staff showed up at his school and he was impressed. I believe he's been offered and looks pretty solid for The Tigers.
Reminds me of Herb Tyler, loved him in an LSU uniform. He was always one of my favorites, little guy playing QB!
