I did not hate JJ. I did not hate JL. I do not hate Mett. I don’t hate anyone in LSU uniform. But here is what I don’t “get.” And I do hate that expression, but….. I do not think Mett is doing very well. We all expected better. I think. You see these highlight films of some no name kid at Wattsamattu U going crazy. Why is he not a Tiger? There are lots of QB’s all over the country making plays, or at least not screwing up too bad. Why are they not Tigers? While I am at it, why isn’t the best QB in the universe a Tiger? The Rivers kid….he had great stats coming out of high school. Why is he not playing some? Or the other guys that are mentioned? ------------------------------------------- Intellectual Interlude: A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. — 'Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' — Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood. --—Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist and poet, Self-Reliance, 1841 ------------------------------------------- I just don’t get what physical (or meta-physical) dis-association LSU and ADEQUATE (not even star or super star) quarterback have. It seems it never ends…. “if just for a quarterback.” We apparently have a bunch of potential on the sidelines. We either ought to fish or cut bait. Find someone to do the job on the team, or find someone not on the team. Just find some freakin one. Anyone. Anywhere. We might lose the best to Bama. The second best to USC, maybe the third best to Notre Dame…just saying, but pretty soon we need to get the nth best. And the nth best will be good enough. I am not the coach, clearly, but I just can’t accept that we have to be mediocre, continuously. Damn.
