Well, hang on to that thought. Once you go Crimson, there's no going back.

I'm sure it is no secret the on-air personalities on ESPN are given opposite sides of an argument. With Notre Dame, it is his schtick but that bias is real.

A few years ago he had one of his motivational speeches here in town. We had a group assigned to cover the event and I went just to mingle with some of our long standing advertisers.

Lou showed up at the convention center decked out in Notre Dame clothing. In itself, by itself, you wouldn't think that was a big deal.

Except there's this one point that is important to take into account.

He was current coach at South Carolina.

BTW, that event? In Charleston, SC.

Try to find 10 non biased members, or even 5 or even just 1. Doubt if it can be done. Matter of fact I am the only unbiased person I can
think of. Here's how I would do it. There are 5 major conferences and a couple of independents. Conference champions get a token, but as has been pointed out some conference champions are chosen unfairly, so unless the unfairness is irrelevant they get their token taken away. As far as independents go, if they beat a team that eventually wins their conference, they get a token. Quality of schedule
has to be taken into account and I would go more than one level deep.In other words if you beat an 8-3 team, the quality of that teams schedule has to be factored in, on down to the bottom. I'd have a supercomputer chugging all night on that. The top four teams would get a token. I'd have to watch all games of course, but I do that anyway and if there is one team like say Miami of a few years back that is clearly deserving of being in the final 4 they will find a way in even if they are out tokened.

I submit my nomination for the playoff committee. Thank you. Thank you very much.

I read somewhere last week that Archie Manning was being considered for the board. Unquestionable integrity, pretty informed about college football and has an SEC lean, I'd imagine. All in all, a decent choice.

I've seen some suggest Archie. He seems to me like a solid choice as well.

How the other conference commissioners make their selections is something I haven't seen. Suggestions by AD's is something Slive is doing this week.

Then scratch LSU from ever making the list.

Terry? You started the post. The list of top 4 if Archie is helping select the teams, he's saying Archie would always leave LSU off.

I didn't get the connection. I'm not aware of any "animosity" between Archie and LSU. I am aware of where the Manning's come from and his kids went to other schools.

Would that make him leave LSU out of a playoff? I don't see that.
