I think they WERE, but Garrett has lost a little of his luster the past season and a half. I don't think it's a given that he'll replace Phillips. If he were going to be the next coach, Phillips probably would've been let go in the offseason.

I sort of wish Jones had hired Singletary, who interviewed for the job when Phillips was hired. But I doubt that Jerry wants that strong of a personality in Dallas; another reason that he didn't go after Gruden.

Well, there is a connection. Didn't Miles serve as OL coach or something for the Cowboys before becoming HC at Okie St.? It does seem like an incredibly long shot, though. Although, Miles certainly does have the NFL coach-speak dialogue down pat.

Do you think Jones would go after Sean Payton?
Maybe Sean is too aware of how Jerry works and wouldn't even entertain it. But you have to admit with the facilities and money it could be tempting.

Sean Payton is too much of an egomaniac to be a head coach in Dallas. Jerry was on 105.3 the fan the other day and he admitted that EVERY football decision goes through him, with the exceptions of the plays that are called. He is the final word on player personnel, who starts, who sits. I think Les Miles would actually be a great hire for the Cowboys, but i don't want him to go, i want him to stay at LSU.

    Seems like a stretch.
However, since Jones took over his 2 Superbowl wins have come from coaches that were head coaches in college and won a national champ. Maybe that's his formula now?

Meyer - Ego too big to co-exist
    Saban x been there
Miles - Wears a big hat and is a gunsllinger already.
    Spurrier x been there
    Stoops -Tried already
Carrol - west coast guy, failed once in NFL already
Brown - UT fan base would hate him for it.
Tressel - Sweater vest....in Dallas? Dont think so.
Fulmer - Players were in too much trouble without million dollar salaries.
    Paterno - OLD
    Bowden - OLD

Think about it, what does Jerry require. A guy who is going to keep his mouth shut when it comes to the negative, and do nothing but pump sunshine about his players, owner, and organization.

I don't know if this would ever happen, but i think Miles would be a fit in Dallas.

Jason Garrett will be next Dallas Cowboy head coach. Jerry wants to run things and reason for Wade Phillips.

Not saying this is true or not, or will or will not happen... but if there's any validation to this then it's a compliment... after this season there's no salary cap in pro football... Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have more money than anyone... they'll just buy all the personnel needed to start winning super bowls again soon. And Miles would prolly double his salary. Either way... if he leaves to go anywhere it'll be done with class with no BS involved.

Les Miles is the least likely NFL head football coach I can think of. If true, this is a horrible, horrible idea. Saban is much more likely to succeed in the NFL - and he didn't. Spurrier same. Bust. Miles would be an idiot to leave what he seems to love the most - "team", "young men", character, and turning kids into men - just to chase a few extra dollars (he's making a LOT of money now) and hang out with prima-donas...

I will have to see it to believe it.

All of these "Les Miles is leaving LSU" reports are about as inaccurate as every story over the last several years that put the Saints as the team that was a "lock" to move to Los Angeles.

There are jerk "writers" around the country that have never been to Louisiana, don't know what it is like in Louisiana, have never known people from Louisiana, and are informed about Louisiana from TV shows and movies that portray us as voodoo worshiping inbreds. These people can't fathom why anyone would ever want to live in Louisiana, much less stay in Louisiana.

Hence, anything or person that is a positive testament to Louisiana does not compute in their simple minds so they have to dream up scenarios to remove those aspects of our people and/or denigrate our culture and contributions.
