Punting On Third and a Foot?

I've seen it reported that LSU punted on third and a foot against Auburn.. anyone catch this? I was cooking while watching the game so it might have escaped me, but I don't recall it happening. Any context for the situation would be great.

I think we punted twice on 3rd and less than a yard.

 

That was when Paul Deitzel was coach.

Did you mean FOURTH and a yard? We haven't punted on third down since the Dietzel days, that I can think of. Back then we punted on third down regularly!

It was a punt on 4th and a foot. Not on 3rd down

 

Damn I totally brain farted the title of the thread. Yes 4th and less than a yard.

 

Yup, did it all the time. As I recall, if we had third and more than 5 yards to go we punted!

I think some of the old timers can also verify this.
