In the sixties, and in the Army, all, I repeat, "ALL" the Puerto Ricans I was around were lazy, and goof offs. "Private, drop down and give me twenty." "NO COMPRENDO." "Company....double time..." "NO COMPRENDO." Anything that made them work or sweat, was "NO COMPRENDO." "Chow time" or "Dismissed", and they had no problem with. Week-end passes....they understood. We had one white dude who fell running down the stairs for formation.....Later in the day, we heard that he had messed up his leg and would be going home. I sat outside smoking later that day. I heard something "falling" down the stairs. I opened the door to the barracks, and there was a short, fat, PR dude sitting on his arse at the bottom of the stairs. He looked at me and said, "Damn....didn't work." Then he opened up the door, stuck his leg out, and proceeded to repeatedly slam the door on his knee. Yeah....Love me some PR.
