In 2011, Bernie Sanders explained that "These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina..." On Chavez's death in 2013, leftist filmmaker Oliver Stone remarked, "I mourn a great hero to the majority of his people."
Yes Obama screwed up Syria. However Trump’s abandonment of the Kurds and kowtowing to Russia and Iran is indefensible and despicable. With Mattis’s resignation we have no more adults in the executive branch.....God help us. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...esignation-leaves-congress-no-excuses/578785/
Some of them will get killed or wounded. The rest will sooner or later come home, many of them with PTSD. No goal will be accomplished by their presence.
I believe most of them were there to support supply and train the Kurds. The Kurds have been the primary effective force fighting the various Islamic terror organizations. They are also the only ones in the area who hold anything close to our values and have honored their commitments to us. Those 2;000 troops are a trip wire preventing Russian, Turkish and Iranian adventurism in Kurdistan. By leaving we open then up to attack by the Turks, Iranians supported by Russia. Basically we leave them hanging ripe for slaughter. By leaving be betray every ideal we supposedly hold and dishonor our name. That will be a disaster for the Kurds and the Middle East. By leaving we finish what Obama started....letting Russia back into influence in the region. It had been a non entity in the ME for years. Obama certainly let the camel’s nose under the tent flap andTrump opened the door. We now have an advasery gaining power it never earned in a vital area. We’ve even pushed Turkey and Russia together. If you know anything about geopolitics you would know they have been enemies for hundreds of years. Trump is giving Putin everything he could have wished for and more. Finally it further weakens our allies faith in our word our resolve and Reliabity as an ally. It is another surrender of sovereignty as bad as the British retreat “East of Aden” in 1964. That may seem like a lot to expect of 2000 troops but they were doing a great job and are having their feet cut out from under them.
Wow. What a nice NeoCon reply. The Cabal would be proud. You know, we risked Turkey leaving NATO, your love child, and joining Russia if we didn’t pull out. You have it backwards. We were about a month from picking sides in a real fight. Turkey will likely occupy the area.
