    Coaches' Poll

    1. Florida
    2. Texas
    3. USC
    4. Alabama
    5. Ohio State
    6. Penn State
    7. Oklahoma State
    8. Ole Miss
    9. LSU
    10. Oklahoma
    11. California
    12. Boise State
    13. Georgia Tech
    14. Virgina Tech
    15. Utah

Don't be surprised if Ole Miss is snuck in just ahead of us. The coaches will see a 31-23 score and wonder what the hell happened to us. That last TD sucked balls.

I'd put Bama over USC based on quality of opponent, drop Ohio State down to #8ish, and find a spot for BYU in the top 15.

I got BYU coming in at 16. Their win is tarnished just a tad with Bradford going out the game.

I think Ohio State has enough cushion to fend off Penn State. Can't see Okie State jumping them though.

USC will DEFINITELY be #3. That is the most sure thing in my prediction.

Matt Barkley is GOD, you didn't get the memo?

In the AP, look for LSU to actually drop a spot to #12.

I REALLY wish they would do away with polls until week 5 of the season.

Rarely is someone as good as they seem in week 1 and almost never as bad as they seem in week 1 and unless you really begin the season ranked in the top 15, you'll need some miracle shakeup in the top 10 to ever move up to the top 2 spots.

I have a couple of examples to illustrate my stance:

    1. US! Both of our BCS title seasons came with us ranked in the top 15 to start the season. In '03 we were the only team in the 3-team hunt to be in position to play the title game (we were #2 in every poll...it was OU and USC that flip-flopped 1st and 3rd) but in '07, we needed help to reach the title game. Had we not begun the season as high as we did, we never would have been in that position to receive enough help!

    2. Michigan. They start the year #5, lose to Appy State and then drop off the face of the college football earth.

    3. Auburn! I hate giving props to the War Chickens but 13-0 and NO title game???? Why? They weren't a top 15 team to start the season and there was never enough "shakeup" in the top 10 to move them up enough by the time the bowl games rolled around.

Why do we need preseason rankings anyways????? They mean next to nothing! It's only towards the end of the season where polls have an effect on the national title game.

I think ESPN and Brent Musberger have given them the trophy already.

I don't know...if you listened to the LSU game, ESPN put Washington in the top 10. Bob Davies could talk about nothing but the Washington coaches and QB from the first minute to the last of coverage. I had to turn off the sound. Is he a UW alum?
