But really Stacey ... is it because we are so good? ... or is it because the rest of the field is so bad?? I think back to some of the teams of old, and wonder sometimes .. are LSU and Bama just so much better than the rest of the teams in College Football today ... or are they just what used to be considered a good team, with the rest of college football sucking because they've all gone to the spread offense and no defense recipe.
There is certainly a lot of bad football being played. When I watch games outside of the SEC (and the Big 10 and Big East, in particular), I'm amazed at how bad some teams are. Defense is no longer held at the premium that it once was--also worthy of note is that many hits which were perfectly legal in the past are now penalized, so defenses probably finesse more than they used to. Many LSU fans are falling victim to the popular thinking that flashy offenses win in football. Sometimes, they win games, but they aren't winning championships. What did that Missouri player say about the SEC? Oh, yeah. We play "old man football." At this point, with his team 0-2 in the SEC, I wonder how he feels about the old men now.
Really, what's the difference? I think the field looks so bad because we have become accustomed to watching our team become so good.
Honestly...they have done nothing to KEEP it either, depends on how you look at it. My biggest concern is not seeing that intensity passion and desire from the team.....hopefully it's just because of the competition we have played so far.
