Note that this weekend will mark the 1st BCS rankings. It will be interesting to see how the computer rankings assess Alabama vs Florida. I agree with your prediction of LSU winding up 8th in the coaches poll. Arkansas looks pretty strong. I love the SEC!
I think the computer polls will split right down the middle for Alabama and Florida today. Looks like: 1. Florida 2. Alabama 3. Texas 4. USC 5. Boise State when the first BCS polls come out Boise will have to hope for another loss for USC, Cincy to lose 1 game (an undefeated Cincy jumps an undefeated Boise at some point), and then still 2 losses by Texas more than likely and definitely 2 losses from an SEC Champ (which looks nearly impossible at this point).
And you're saying Florida's win and Bama's win wasn't pedestrian? We still have two tough road games to go. Win those and we'll start thinking about "our place" in this year's version of the rankings. The good news is nobody is "lights out" this year. Last year Florida was truly a dominant team... sure, Ole Miss was the blind squirrel who found an acorn, but Florida outscored the rest of the SEC something like 360 to 49. This year things are different. A lot of teams have a chance. Iowa is just one of many who have found a way to win games. We may not win them all, but we're sure as hell tough to beat. .... just please don't tell me that beating Penn State and Wisconsin in their house is somehow more pedestrian than the Bama win over South Carolina at home... or Florida/Arky, for that matter. Just win, baby!!
I was hoping you would chime in. I didn't say the Bama or Florida win was earth shattering. It was even more lackluster than yours, in fact. Both teams are still struggling quite a bit to balance a passing game to go along with a strong running game.
This is how I see the BCS turning out today: 1. UF 2. Bama 3. Texas 4. BSU 5. USC 6. Iowa 7. LSU 8. Cincy 9. TCU 10. Miami
I wasn't sure but I gave them the edge to do so. If not, then just swap them and those are the rankings.
They may overtake LSU simply from the boost in the computer polls and cutting the deficit in the human vote in half or a little more.
LSU stays at 10. USATODAY.com 1. Florida (49) 2. Alabama (9) 3. Texas (1) 4. Southern California 5. Boise State 6. Cincinnati 7. TCU 8. Iowa 9. Miami (Fla.) 10. LSU
