Would YOU bet your "family jewels" in any game against Alabama and any of those other conference champs? Hell no, you wouldn't - and neither would I. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am pretty much in this camp as well, but the problem is that it is not a formal rule, which leaves the dreaded door open to it. If LSU wins out, it's going to come down to the voters putting who they want in there. Will they be able to agree on a team outside of Bama? Look at the poll now. The west coast honks will go back to pushing Stanford. The east coast honks will probably push Va. Tech. It's a split vote situation. Another opportunity for Bama. I don't like this setup either.
Got a Florida fan here at work that said "hell no" to the rematch. He said he did not want to see that game played again.
Their computer polls are really bad, and deservedly so. They have had the easiest schedule of anyone in the SEC. Did not play Bama, Arkansas or LSU. Their best win on their entire schedule is Auburn. Think about that for a minute.
I've been watching for Chip's explanation; Oregon Ducks begin picking up the pieces with Rose Bowl on the line | OregonLive.com . .....Many have wondered about Kelly not using all of his timeouts on that final drive to possibly save time for more shots at the end zone, or to get closer for Alejandro Maldanado’s field goal attempt. Kelly said he has no misgivings about how he managed the final minute of the game. “We were in position to tie the football game,” he said. “We took two shots on two pass plays where routes went into the end zone but they did a good job of covering them. And I thought (quarterback) Darron (Thomas) did a good job. One thing you don’t want to do in that situation: You have an opportunity for a field goal, so we don’t want you to throw a pick.” USC’s defense, Kelly said, protected the end zone well. “They understood the situation,” he said. “They did the same thing I would have done defensively. They defended the end zone and let you throw the ball down in front.”..... --------------------- I didn't see it that way... To me it looked like Oregon was a victim of it's own hyper pace. I agree with you islstl, a tried and true approach to clock management was needed in that situation. A timeout was absolutely the right call. Not doing so, caused us to hurry the play, while burning time off a running clock. We were in great shape with 35 seconds to go,.. but it went downhill from there.
Wow, something we can all agree on. It's easy to dissect Chip's comments. If he has time for two plays downfield in the end zone, he has time for at least one throw down the middle taking a time-out and setting up a chip shot FG. I think he is full of it. He really wasn't thinking FG. He wanted a TD. For that, I admire him and his comment that he had no misgivings. Put it all together, and it would have sounded a lot better had Chip said, "**** the time outs, I wanted to win the game". After all, I think that is what he was really trying to do. :hihi: As for other SEC fans not affiliated with Bama, I do not know of one who wants to see a rematch. So good point up there about FU fan.
