John Chavis elected too use it to stop (attempt to "stop") Alabama "2012" on the final drive Alabama had & they were behind by 3 points 17-14. First a question who decided to run the "prevent-defense" on Alabama's final drive? A. John Chavis B. Les Miles C. Nick Saban (he wanted this) D. All of the above E. Some of the above F. Lets learn to lose with dignity Second - Fact Alabama / Mr. A. McCarron were struggling terribly. I'm not certain if Alabama had more than two first downs in the second half up until their last push to score? If it (LSU's defensive scheme) succeeds what possible logic teaches a professional football specialist to alter the successful strategy?
They weren't in prevent defense, they fell back into a soft coverage allowing underneath routes. You are going to get burned every now and then you are going to get burned when you solely rely on the defense to win games for you. You have to have an offense that can put teams away for you when given the opportunity. We didn't do that against Bama, and it cost us, we didn't do that in the bowl game and it cost us.
I call it the "rally in death valley." The heart of a champion eventually comes through. Bama drove the length of the field because they had to. The defense didn't want it to happen. My theory is, it didn't matter, it happened anyway.
I see that, but when a field goal loses the game for you, you should concede ZERO yards. The underneath stuff should only be allowed in two minute drills where a TD or more is needed, and only to make sure there isn't a quick strike. Give them some yards, maybe even down to the red zone (where the "underneath" stuff disappears), as long as they're running out of time. If all they need to do is get to the 35 with timeouts left, you bring the pain.
Oh, so the crimson turd merely elected to wait until their very last drive to advance the ball even modestly in the second half? Shut the fuck up.
Not that I could see. Chavis defense is tough and aggressive. He believes in man to man and he believes in making you go the long way. If you avoid the rush, you can throw underneath a Chavis defense. Just a fact that goes back to his Tennessee imprints. The defense is good enough to win, it's just that this year, Bama's offense was the better team.
Let him gloat. It's all gonna come back around when we beat their asses in front of 90,000 gumps next year.
From your mouth... I would love nothing more than to take the "process" and shove it up Saban's arse sideways.
