Surprised no one has opened a thread yet.

Defense looks sick. Roster seems deep. Line and blitz looking great. Hope Patrick is alright. Hate to have to look for other corners early.

Offense quite bland. Back up QB, Daniels looks good.

Hope that's a sign of things to come. I also hope they were getting that kind of pressure running a vanilla scheme. Imagine when Williams starts adding some of his exotic packages.

To be expected in the first pre-season game. I would have liked to have seen more from the first team though. Although he mostly played against SF's 2nd string, I really liked how Ingram played. Great balance on his TD run. And though he appears to be the odd man out in a crowded back field, Bell looked pretty decent too.

Chase has a nice arm and looked real good, he'll be another good NFL qb. Defense looked nasty, 2nd team looked real good too, saints are deep on that side of the ball... This defense could lead us to the promise land.

I know it was the first pre season game but that was the most impressive performance from our d line I've seen. Hope it continues, the depth on D is sick didn't see much drop off between first and second units. Not to mention our LB's were aggressive making plays in the backfield. Welcome back Cassillas will be an upgrade at LB this year. For those who loved Fujita and Shanle over the years and argued how many tackles they had each year its true they made the plays, as guys got to them they made the tackle and the guy would pick up an extra two yards falling forward. Hardly ever saw reading a play and coming up to stop it in the backfield and thats what we need, to go make the play dont let it come to you.

A guy I work with has been talking up Mitch King all month. He was impressive tonight, as were (I thought) Daniel, Bell and Casillas. Casillas looks like he's ready to make a bid to start again.

A couple of days ago, I was thinking about the upcoming Raiders pre-season game. People point to the third pre-season game as the one where you get the longest look at the starters, and I remembered that this season, like the Super Bowl season, we play that game at Oakland. Last night was another parallel to '09: offense shaky, but defense very impressive in the pre-season opener.

I went to the game and came away thinking Casillas should start. He has the speed we need and can make the open field tackles. King stood out too, but he is small for a DT. He looked smaller than the other DT's and when I checked the weight listed on the program it was around 280 if I recall correctly. The defense blitzed a lot for the first game of the preseason which helped their cause. I'd like to see how they look when they run a more basic defense or compete against a better QB capable of dealing with the blitz. I was a little disappointed with our inability to run the football with our 1st team offense.

Same here. Then, I remind myself that it's the first game of the pre-season, so we'll see what happens. Still, if that doesn't change, not only aren't we going to make a Super Bowl run, we won't even beat ATL for the South.
