I remember that Oregon game against Arizona when Dixon went down. I forget who had that game, but I think it was ESPN. And I forget who was calling that game, but they were very clear in commenting on how exposed Oregon was in losing but one player. They remarked that there was no way a program "like LSU" would lose one player and then fall completely apart. So, my friend, you are right as usual! :thumb:
Islstl, around 5 votes much switch us ahead of VaTech in one poll and 15 in another. That is roughly 10% in the coaches and 15% in the Harris. Knowing that some votes are locked in, like VaTech's, etc., I think that is quite a few votes percentage wise. You said only a few votes had to switch. What makes you confident enough to say you are 85% certain. Is there any precedent to such a big switch? It seems this is a unique situation, and I would be a lot more confident if we had a similar situation historically to base it on.
yep...thx, espn is slow with the updates. just didnt want to get my hopes up. very happy about these recent developments :thumb:
That's great news regarding the coaches poll. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex isl was talking about the gap he thought we needed between us an Va.Tech to get to #2 BCS. Looks like we have covered that! Great news. :crystal: Anyone know the impact of OU being #3 in the coaches?
From "Matt" the ISTLTL of TigerDroppings: Wow! This is awesome. Its all but official. LSU WILL play in the National Championship against Ohio State. LSU needed to gain some ground in the Coaches poll COACHES over Va Tech and hold off OU to some degree. They did a whole hell of a lot more than they needed to. They are almost 100 votes above OU and 200 above Va Tech in the 60-vote Coaches poll. That is absurd. LSU would literally would have to be ranked #10 in the Harris (they won't; they will be #2) to miss out. You can book hotel rooms, buy tickets, etc. Here are my BCS projections (estimating the Harris). Note that it is feasible (not likely) LSU could pass OSU for the #1 spot. Also, UGA may not finish top 4, meaning they would not get an automatic qualifier bid. 1. OSU (0.960) 2. LSU (0.947) 3. Va Tech (0.875) 4. OU (0.858) 5. UGA (0.831) 6. USC (0.779) 7. Mizzou (0.774) 8. Kansas (0.732)
ESPN has rights to the final BCS standings. It will be an hour long show that starts at 8pm est.:geauxtige
