What's interesting to me about the coaches poll ...

    1) WE got 11 first place votes.
    2) The point difference between us at #2 and OU at #3 is 87 points. There are 60 voters. That means there is more than a full spot difference on the voters ballots between LSU and OU.
    3) Frank Beamer; coach of Va Tech has a vote in the poll and did NOT vote his team #1.
    4) Mark Richt- coach at UGA has a vote and did NOT vote his team #1
    5) No one from out west voted USC #1.
    6) Hawaii got a #1 vote, but I don't think their coach has a vote....

It really looks like we're in. Brad Edwards just said on ESPN that the Harris poll would have to be completely, dramatically different from the Coaches Poll for us NOT to be in.

Fox has been announcing the BCS standings all year, immediately following the conclusion of the 3:00 NFL game.

This leads me to believe that FOX will announce the BCS Standings, followed by the match-ups.

5 Minutes later ESPN will announce them and spend the duration of their show talking to the respective coaches, and breaking down each BCS Bowl match-up.

Looks like the Sagarin poll is out...

I can't make any sense of this link... it has LSU at #6 but says the they submit the ELO_CHESS ranking to the BCS??

In the ELO_Chess rankings LSU is #2...

BCS uses the ELO_CHESS numbers from that poll (which I have no idea what ELO_CHESS actually means). We are #2 on that #

I agree the Arkansas loss doesn't compare to the devastation that WVU are feeling right about now.

In talking to my nephew DOTB, I told him that the pressure felt by WVU in the Pitt game was the same pressure LSU felt ever since they played the Kentucky game. We had nearly 7 straight weeks of what WVU had to endure this one weekend. And they could not meet the challenge of overcoming the pressure. They simply choked this away even though I believe the Pitt defensive effort was as good as it gets.

i think i have to disagree with you here. I CLEARLY remember standing in Tiger Stadium as matt threw that int in complete disbelief and my tigers' NC hopes went out the window. i didn't know what to do with myself. i woke up saturday morning and didn't want to get up. i felt as if there was nothing to get up for. :(

but after watching the stars align yesterday, that feeling might have been worth it. WOW i love this team!:geauxtige

This is the explanation on the website: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt07.htm

"In ELO-CHESS, only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence,
which makes it very "politically correct". However it is less accurate in its predictions for upcoming games than is the B]PURE POINTS[/B], in which the score margin is the only thing that matters. PURE POINTS is also known as PREDICTOR, BALLANTINE, RHEINGOLD, WHITE OWL and is the best single PREDICTOR of future games. The ELO-CHESS will be utilized by the Bowl Championship Series(BCS)." :thumb:
