I am not going to predict a score.
Obviously I am hoping for a Duck victory, but teams change too much every year to make a prediction on the first game of the year.
Both teams are very very good.

I will make this prediction for the coming SEASON.
LSU will not have as good a defense as it did last year.
LSU will have a better offense than it did last year.
(How much better/How much worse, I don't know, and that is the key to how good you all are this year.)

Oregon will have a better defense than it did last year.
Oregon will have about as good an offense as it did last year.
(Last year Oregon had a much easier schedule than it does this year, so just being better may not be enough to do as well. For all that I am a Duck fan, I think last year's Duck offense was over rated, it's a system designed to stomp lesser defenses into the ground, by tiring them out, but great defenses that can get enough 3 and outs are tough for them. )

It's certainly possible that the defense won't be as good, but don't be surprised if it's as good or better

LSU will be better on offense

The real X-factor is special teams. We lose an outstanding kicker and return man. Those two guys were extremely valuable last year.

How will you have a better D but not LSU?

    What makes you think that?

We have some of the best DL in the country and even after losing Nevis, we are considered, by some, to have a top 10 DL:

Rivals.com College Football - Preseason unit rankings: Defensive line

Secondly, our secondary was 1st in the SEC last year while missing a starter in Taylor. he is now back and b/c we had PP, the younger guys in the secondary saw loads of actions.

Only Bama, Ark and A&M mostly attacked PP. The rest of the teams tried to stay away....

The only ? on D is the LB's and IMO, the 4-2 front would most likely neutralize that fact.

Also, we return a top 10 OL in the country:

Can you guys slow the LSU rushing attack ?

Can you run the ball like you love to do on LSU ?

If we run and slow you guys - LSU 34 Ducks 17

Going to be a great one and the Ducks coming over here - awesome

link to your duck site and this Tiger will come say hi

With the air conditioning going, heat and humidity shouldn't be a factor.

In the interest of safety for the players and the crowd (heat exhaustion, etc.) there's no way officials would allow the roof to be open to let in the heat. I think that the spectators would be extremely upset to pay the prices they are for tickets, and bake in the heat at the same time.....:dis:

LSU DL is flat out sick. Not sure if Oregon's OL can keep the protection from breaching mid to late 3rd quarter. I think the Duck's O-line will simply be worn down by then. I think Tyrron Mathieu and company will have an easy time as a result.

Even if Jefferson takes a little time adjusting, LSU's RBs will be more than ample to carry the load. IMHO, key offensive player of the game will be DeAngelo Peterson, however.

I hate predicting scores. LSU plays the teams they should beat much closer than they should. They play evenly matched teams close as well.

But, I'll go out on a limb here. I'll predict LSU 30 Oregon14.

I believe both our offense and defense will be better this year. Special teams will probably not be as good.

As far as the game prediction goes the team that wins the lines of scrimmage usually wins and I think I know who that will be in this game. If JJ is just average I think LSU wins comfortably.

You may have to excuse my prediction. I'm drinking the Purple and Gold kool-aid...

I believe LSU's OLine will control, if not dominate, the Oregon front, thus giving us the ability to run the football and control the clock. This will open up play-action, and the occasional deep ball.

I also believe our speed on defense is going to surprise Oregon. I'm talking about Mingo at DE, Hatcher/Francois at OLB, and our secondary.

Lastly, this is the deepest, most experienced D we've had in a long time.

If this game becomes a scoring fest, I still believe we'll have fresh enough legs late in the game to make a play or two and get a stop.

    I'm taking the Tigers, 34-24.
