Well, I never said LSU has beaten Great teams on turf, but they have played better teams on turf and produced MUCH more than they did when they played weaker schools on grass, in Death Valley in some cases. We smacked around Georgia Tech and Texas A&M in our last 2 bowl games "on turf" and showed a lights out offensive attack when you compare it some horrible performances against: 2009 Vanderbilt at Home - Only 23 Points - 16-9 game going into the 4th quarter La Tech at Home - Only 24 Points, 246 Yards of Offense - We trailed 13-10 at halftime! 2010 Vanderbilt on the road - Shut us out the 1st & 3rd Quarters, 10-3 Game going into the 4th Miss St at Home - Didn’t score our first TD until 5:00 left in the 3rd Tennessee @ Home - Tied 7-7 Going into the 4th - Scored on the first & last plays of the game, McNeese St @ Home - Only 282 yards of Offense, 16-10 game until 6:00 left in the third! When you watch your team struggle as much as we have, and then see them explode in bowl games, it gets a bit Dr. Jeckle & Mrs. Hyde
31-17 tigers in a closer game than the score implies. LSU goes up 2 scores early, on one long drive and another from a brilliant special teams play. Oregon is forced to tilt their game plan to passing and eventually puts up a deep ball TD on us and a field goal before the half. Tigers score on first second half possession and then get a turnover and turn it into 3. At 24-10, oregon comes back with another TD. LSU then grinds the clock down and caps it with a TD run from jefferson. Just my prediction.
The humidity isn't worse, as it lingers in the 50% area, but currently, we're in the middle of the 2nd longest streak of consecutive 100+ days on record. The past two days, we've hit 111 and 110, with no relief in sight. It hasn't rained a drop since June 24th, and before that, it rained on May 23rd. I've been here since '97, and this is by far the worst summer stretch. No one would want to be in that heat on September 3rd, especially the fans (but I'd get a little perverse pleasure from watching them sweat since I haven't found tickets.)
Oregon 21-LSU 20 Half time LSU 10- Oregon 7, late first half FG gives them the half time lead. Oregon scores TD on first possession of the second half. Gives up a TD and FG. Oregon gets a pic 6 for the win. Hey, you didn't expect me to say you guys were going to beat us did you. LOL
I was just thinking about that, and I'm not sure it changes anything. First, from the Ducks side, they are still preparing to face a new OC at LSU. Second, at this date I wouldn't expect any significant changes to the offense Krags was putting in. Simply not enough time for that. Third, Krags is still part of the team and I'd expect that LSU has had there Oregon game plan set for months now. Third, the new guy will likely stick pretty close to the existing plan. Finally, Krags is still coaching QBs and thats the real big "unknown". With crowton gone my pleasant experience has been QBs become really good really quickly. Krags is excellent with QBs so my real big concern is that JJ has a career day passing against my Ducks.
