A good post. I don't know about 9 or 10 wins this year, but the big-picture idea is valid. We will learn a lot from the Auburn game in two weeks. On paper it looks to be an even match. I'm glad LSU is at home. If the offense doesn't show improvement against AU, though, this season could turn into another 08. :tigereye:
Pass whatever it is youre on over here please. Seriously, I dont see how your that optimistic. WHile Im not saying the sky is falling. I know LSU is capable of some wins but the team we seen last night wont cut it for the rest of the season, definitely not to win the SEC W. Auburn and Arkansas dont have very good Ds but neither did UGA. Look how many points we put on them. While our D has played very well under the circumstances you cant expect us to totally shut down those teams. Our O will eventually have to put up points. As for Ole Miss being exposed. Their O nor Snead are where they were expected to be but their D is damn good. So again, we have to score to win. The longer the season goes the more the D will be worn since the O cant sustain any drives. As for Bama. Unless we see a whole new team that has a fire lit under the a$$ of the OL and they grow balls. Plus JJ finally decides to let go of the ball and plays with confidence we stand no chance. Their D is damn good. Probably better than UF. Definitely just as good.
Our O will not have to face the best defense in the country again . . . unless we win out and meet Florida in the SECCG.
Bama is every bit as good as UF. Ole Miss has a damn good D as well. And again, its not like LSU put up points against a pretty poor UGA D either. So I stand by it, the O will eventually have to put up some points.
we just played the best offense on our schedule, and held them in check. UGA was lighting up the scoreboard before we played them. our D held them in check. no reason to believe the D won't continue to play well against good offenses. teams have scored against Auburn and Arky. no reason to think we can't do that. Ole miss has been beaten by the only 2 teams with a pulse on their schedule. Quit buying into their pre-season hype. that leaves only Bama. if our D shows up against Bama like they did last night, 17 points will win that game. Florida also has the best defense on our schedule. last I checked, we don't play them again without a re-match in Atlanta.
Lets be honest, that was far from the best UF. They were very predictable and scaled back because of Tebow. I hand it to our D though. Still, UF wasnt pushed to really worry, so they didnt have to fully unleash their O. Im not buying into the Ole Miss hype. Im just saying they have a damn good D. Their O and Snead have struggled. Overall Im just saying you cant expect the D to bail us out every single game. Eventually they will tire from not resting. The O cant sustain many drives. Thats all Im saying. YOu cant expect the D to play this well every game when they arent resting up. When they have an off game the O will have to step up.
+1 They have a bye week to try to straighten this thing out somewhat. What if they play Auburn and it's no different or worse? Then what?
Excellent idea. Let's be honest. Everyone is seeing only LSUs flaws. Do we have flaws? Yeah, never said we didn't. But looking at our remaining schedule, I see 5 VERY beatable teams, and one team we CAN beat. EVERY team we got left also has flaws. Every single one of them.
.... and, not to mention, FLA is very, very good. Do I think we could have beat them with a better offensive gameplan and execution.. yes. Do I think we could have considered other players... yes. But, at no point in the game was it a runaway, and mid-way in the 4th, the game was still obtainable. A conservative coach like CLM is not going to abandon the starters unless there were obvious reasons to do so.... i.e. a player not giving effort, repeatedly turning the ball over, etc. FLA simply controlled the game on both sides of the ball. LSUs flaws are easy to diagnose afterwards, but FLA deserves a lot of credit.
