Cowherd is going nuts over Boise being ranked #5. He makes a valid point, why should a team that goes undefeated but doesn’t play anyone be ranked about Florida that had a much tougher schedule. Thoughts?
These pre season polls are all about popularity and wishful thinking...They're based on opinions and hopes more than performance. I would say Vegas odds as well, but the opening lines and odds are based on how the bookies think the public will bet and the adjusted lines are based on how the public actually bets...(popular opinion again) They have to be....no games have been played yet. The only problem is that if someone's ranked way too low to begin with, it's too hard for them to move up to where they actually belong. This might prevent a deserving team from getting in a BCS bowl or the BCSNCG. Boise State deserves to be ahead of Florida because of their (Fla's) QB situation. I don't think Florida is going to be better than they were with Tebow. We should have beaten them last year.
Pre Season polls are a f*cking joke. Ohio State is ranked in the top 5 every year..... Need I say more?
Boise St. has 23 of 24 starters returning from an undefeated BCS team from a year ago. Since we are talking about a preseason poll, they should easily be a top 5 team. The true dilemma will be BCS title game. If they go undefeated it will be very, very interesting. BCS undefeated teams will have an easier time getting into the title game, but if all of the BCS conferences have at least 1 loss teams, Boise St. will get in, probably against the SEC champs.
This word means NOTHING if your schedule has the strength of damp toilet paper. If this happens…It will show the need for a playoff. There is no way they can go toe to toe with a SEC champion. Hell, I’m not sure how they would matchup against Mississippi state.
It's a shame, because combined both Mississippi schools play a grand total of zero BCS teams out of conference themselves.
The only think you can bank on in a pre-season poll is that Coach Steve Spurrier will vote Duke #1 in the first coach’s poll.
No, I mean it. Ole Miss really needed a good OOC game. They got Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Kentucky along with the West. Their schedule is arguably the easiest without UF, UG and SC on there.
