He really is the #1 LSU Fan. First site I go to after I turn on my computer is to dandydon.com and get my first LSU sports fix of the day. Truly a sad day.
Hate to hear such bad news. I didn't realize his health had declined so much. I met Don once in the press box of Tiger Stadium and he was great to talk to. I also read the site daily and enjoy his take on things, both good and bad. My prayers are with he and his family.
I read him every day. He is still blogging having updated his blog today about the OL from Georgia. Prayers to him. he seemed like just an overall good guy who had a passion for Louisiana and for LSU...
He was my sole connection to LSU info when I lived in Atlanta and had yet too find myself around the web. A terrible loss it will be for many a Tiger.
Dreadful news, like so many others I had no idea either. The most likely reason is that Don would not say anything about it because I don't think he ever intended his site to be about him. I've read his page for more years than I can remember and he will be sorely missed. The next top I twist will be for you Mr. Long. Godspeed mon ami!
very sad to hear. i've been reading & enjoying 'Dandy Don' intermittently for years. praying for a miracle. my mother is battling kidney cancer, & praying for a miracle for her too.
Being from Winnfield, in fact raised just down the street from where Mr. Long's parents lived, having known his parents and his siblings personally including him, I can attest to his being the most loyal, loving LSU fan there is. My wife is related to him and I visit with him from time to time either in Winnfield or by phone. Don Long loves his family, his Tigers, and like my grandmother and mother were about the Long family in general, they could say something about the Longs but you better not. Same with Don and his Tigers, he may say something critical about them but you best not. And, he always checks on his Winnfield Tigers as well. Hang tough Mr. Long. You are the biggest Tiger fan! We are with you and thinking of you!!!!!!!!
