Yes and no. High school kids still have a lot of growing up to do, but they should have a basic grasp of responsibility, maturity, and integrity. Backing out on a school visit that is a privilage because at last minute the kid decides he doesn't want to go flunks those basics. If Powe decided that LSU wasn't right for him, he should have been a man and said so. Or, if he doesn't know what he wants to do, he blew off an opportunity to help him find out, and do some of that growing he still needs to do. The kid left it to his momma to make excuses for him, for God's sake! :dis: I don't expect a kid to be ready to be a CEO, but I expect them to take responsibility for their actions.

I do agree that since he is juco bound the loss isn't something to worry about. It's how he handled it.

Just look on the bright side. We didn't have a full alotment of schollys to offer this year anyway.

But I hear what you're saying, I think Miles is doing a great job of reaching out and at least getting a lot of these recruits that hadn't previously considered LSU, to come in for a visit. Now I don't mean to blame Saban for this, but the fact of the matter is that with the amount of time that he spent unsure of whether he was staying or going, IMHO, it turned off a lot of recruits (who feared even if Saban turned down the Dolphins, he would leave before too long anyway) and in the meantime, a lot of potential Tiger recruits found the time to more carefully persue other programs. As much head-way as Miles has made with some of these kids, it may prove to be too much to over-come (only having but 2-3 weeks to not only hit the ground running, trying to keep current commitments, but also trying to put together a staff, etc.)

Miles shouldn't be unfairly judged on this year's recruiting class. He's kept all of the recruits that he could. Saban had 11. When he left, we lost 2 before Miles was even named. The only recruit that Miles lost out on was Meyers. And since he is a California guy, who's married, I completely understand his decision to want to stay on the West coast, where family is able to help him out when needed.

No matter how the outcome of this recruiting class turns out, I for one will still give coach Miles a lot of rep points for his arzz-busting efforts in securing the recruits with the short time given to him, not to mention his efforts in trying to put together the coaching staff in such time span. :thumb:

Im not going to go as far as saying Miles has done a great job but he certainly gets a pass this year. We are still loaded and we can afford one sub-par class like this. The returning young talent we have more than makes up for it but next year will be VERY important. We cant have 2 classes in a row like this.

Wait until signing day to judge what this class looks like. No HS athlete in America is locked into anything right now and there are some highly rated kids left that are still torn between LSU and another school. Before all the sky is falling comments, wait a few more days to see what we really have to work with.
