Good for him for sticking it out. I hope he has a great career. Just because he is a Rebel doesn't mean he doesn't deserve some credit.
The young man deserves our congratulations. He had some serious academic issues and I believe a learning disorder of some description. Now his perseverance and hard work are paying off and he has his chance to play SEC football. Remember it took Chad Lavalais (Marksville, LA) two or three years to get his academics in order before he could play for LSU.
He has ADD and dyslexia. Pretty surmountable disabilities to overcome. Congrats to him for sticking with it.
"Powe, in a statement released by the university, said he was grateful to Ole Miss and the SEC for the chance "to prove that I can succeed academically and on the football field." Until he's done that, he said he won't give interviews. "There are other Ole Miss student athletes who are more deserving of your time and interest since they have already proven themselves," Powe said. "My journey is just beginning."" I like the attitude. Sounds as if he has earned this oppurtunity. Good for him. Good for Ole Miss.
He will eventually be a good one if he sticks with it. I don't expect him to be great this season as he's likely pretty out of shape. He'll likely get PT though - too talented not to.
