Well the destruction of the Big 12-2 is over for now. So, who do they go after to fill their vacated spots? Just who does the Pac -10 go after to fill it's last spot to get to 12 members? As I had posed the question before the news came out, does the Big 12 go after Ark and TCU? Does the Pac 10 go after Utah? Now the MWC that was looking to become a major player had the Big 12 imploded, is looking like the conference that might get eaten alive. Is the move by Boise St from the WAC to the MWC a mistake or does the WAC get eaten up? All still very interesting possibilities.

In all likelihood, they won't go after anyone. Supposedly part of the TV deal includes having the OU/UT game played in Jerryworld on the same day as conference championship games.

It's interesting how overnight Beebe found a way to double revenues for the new "Big Ten", even suggesting the payouts would now rival the SEC. It makes one wonder why he didn't think this up a few years ago. There are so many ifs and buts in his proposal, it still leaves the Big 12 in a very tenuous situation. My guess is that in the end, Texas decided the burden of dragging a bunch of other schools into the PAC was a tad heavy, even for them.
My guess is the first element of Beebe's plan that fails will cause Texas to move on... saying "well, we did our best to give it a chance."

Also, I doubt if the Big Ten is done. Nebraska is a nice fit in name, but, in Delany's own words, the Big Ten expansion was to be centered around improving the population/media base for the conference network (BTN). I'm not sure what kind of rush the Big Ten is in, but I would guess both Rutgers and Syracuse are still getting a lot of thought.

The other thing that "wasn't there before, but now is" is the new level of knowledge and concensus that the BCS conference commissioners have acquired. Each is now armed with all kinds of data regarding expansion opportunities. The playing field has changed and a few nervous fingers could cause the expansion gun to go off again.

I'd be surprised if this thing is over.

Allright guys and gals. Closing this thread now since nothing involving the SEC is happening at the moment. We'll get another one going if and when needed. If you'd like to continue discussing expansion of other conferences, then don't forget about the college sports forum.

    SEC SEC SEC SEC!!!!

the biggest "if".... can beebe deliver.

it is my understanding he doesnt have any new tv deals. he is making promises on something he has to go out and get. what happens if or when he doesnt get it?

i think this is still gonna happen, its just a matter of when. for a couple of reasons. the biggest is that texas isnt called the longwhores for nothing. they are still gonna take a better deal, especially if it turns out beebe cant deliver. also, some of the more disgruntled schools may say f' you if something better comes along.

i think no ccg is bs. oklahoma is chicken **** to not play one because they got embarrassed in one a few years ago. no ccg is the kind of bs all conferences need to get away from, not embrace. if that is the kind of chicken ****s ou and tex are, they belong in the pac whatever.

Ok, giving this thread life again. Will it be temporary? Probably so. But........

Texes Tech is reportedly refusing to sign the new TV contract. They're not happy with receiving less and fear it gives UT too much recruting power since it makes UT look like the leader of the conference.

This is just the tip of what is possibly still to come. TT will more than likely calm their little jets down, but they are right UT appears to have complete control over the lil dozen. I'm still wondering if the lil dozen grows back to 12 members or do they stay the lil dozen at 10. My thoughts are they will grow.
