I'm in favor of kids having some flexibility in terms of their careers.. if these coaches got the head gig offer at Oregon think most would take it, no? Hired guns..
No question. This is true. Still, coaches can move on regardless of who they have committed or developed without a second thought in most cases. These kids get bound for so long it seems petty to stand in the way and complain instead of using it as a tool to pat your program on the back to bring in more and more talented but overlooked kids.
Yeah I'm not sure how much I buy into the "You commit to the school not to the coach" bit. I mean I get the premise, but if that is the case, then why not full disclosure of your intentions?
