It's time they quit making promises for votes and time decrease money for welfare, subsidies and foreign aid. Cut govt pensions also. Increase the age for congress to 67 and cut back on the perks. That woul be a good starting point.
No, it's blind ideology completely untempered with any realism or pragmatism at all. There are not a lot of great minds in today's republican party. Money can't buy them any brains.
You just don't understand democracy at all, do you? Subsidies--yes. Welfare has already been reduced and limited. It just needs more effort to find the cheaters and toss them. We don't let poor people starve in this country. Eliminating foreign aid is just completely stupid. It buys us tons of trade, UN votes, and good will that we need. We bribe dozens of countries to step to our tune and it is far cheaper than trying to bomb, invade and occupy them, the typical peabrain Republican solution to everything. China is out there spending $billions in foreign aid and so are the Europeans and Russia. We do not want to become second fiddle to any of them. Not while we call ourselves a Superpower. Government pensions are contracts. We couldn't afford the lawsuits that would result. The government informed employees what the arrangement was and took money out of their paychecks to pay for it. They can't just change the deal to save some money any more than they can change the deal for Social Security. What government has to do is stop robbing pension funds and Social Security trust for spare cash and leaving them underfunded. The employees are paying their share every month right off the top of their paychecks.
The politicians get a hell of a lot more return than they put in on their pensions. And we don't need to be paying for aquariums In Brazil or arming alquaida in Syria. Democrats cause more problems than they solve. Their method of governing gives you Detroit and the Bronx. Part time unemployment at record highs. Welfare enrollment almost doubled in last 4 years. Economy at all but a standstill. $7 trillion added to national debt in 4 1/2 years. And running budget deficits close to a trillion a year. Government take over of healthcare. Largest tax increase in history. The most useless sack of shit to ever occupy the White House. And you still defend the guys policies while he jets around spending 40-100 million dollars on vacations. Sounds like your the pea brain. You may have a PhD but it sure isn't in common sense.
Not many in the democrat party either. And damn sure not many democrat supporters with one either. Money can't buy brains alright. But it can buy votes.
Yeh because the Repubs had cell phone tents all over the country giving away gubment phones to anyone with an ear and mouth. And that's why Welfare and other free Assistances sjyrocketed under Bush. LOL
If you think erratic spending is exclusive to the Democrats think again friend. GWB and all of these so-called deficit hawks spent 8 years running up the tab with Medicare part D and two unfunded wars. where were all the deficit hawks back then? where was the budget alarm when the Republicans were running up the tab? republicans are just as much to blame for the fiscal crisis as democrats and in many ways, I would argue worse than the democrats. Assistance has increased exponentially under Obama because the economy sucks; which makes this no different than any other large recession we've had in this country, not because anyone at the White House is sitting around trying to think of ways to give away money to degenerates. Further, the majority of those who are now on assistance are not the typical ones that most people probably think. In fact, the majority of them are baby boomers who lost their jobs and can't find work. they are so close to retirement that they rode out their unemployment and then found a doctor who would call them "disabled" so they could go ahead and start collecting benefits.
Food stamps doubled under Bush, you know. Welfare went up. And huge new entitlements were added, Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and No Child Left Behind. If Obama is buying votes by feeding kids and buying medicine for elderly people, then so have the last 7 or 8 presidents. But Republicans buy votes in other ways. Negative advertising is the biggest one. Subsidies are a huge one. Bush added thousands of new federal subsidy programs during his eight years in office. Hundreds of billions of dollars given annually to special interest groups such as state governments, businesses, nonprofit groups, and individuals. Republican money flows to high-membership organizations like the NRA and to single-interest organizations like anti-abortion groups, climate change deniers, and intelligent design advocates. The Republican governments buy lots of votes with tax breaks and tax credits. It goes on and on. The GOP getting huffy about vote-buying is a major laugh.
