I tend to agree. The Party of No and the Party of Stupid is rapidly becoming the Party of Intransigence, Gridlock, and Myopia. Fortunately some traditional Republicans are starting to speak up against the hijacking of the party by the extremist, government-hating Tea Party.
I don't see shit wrong with TEA party principles. We need to shrink the government and quit funding other countries and wasting tax dollars on bullshit. We need a balanced budget and politicians need to quit making promises that recquire more borrowing and raising taxes Business's and families have to live within their means and so should the government. I know democrats and Libs are either to stupid or lack the common sense to understand that. Here's a math lesson for the dumbass party and their supporters. If Joe Democrat clears $900 a month. He has $30 a day he can spend. If he spends $35 one day he can only spend $25 another day. This is Balancing your finances. If Joe Democrat decides he wants to live on $45 a day he doesn't mug his neighbors to do it. He either gets a better job and makes more money or he gets 2 jobs to finance his habit. Politicians lie all the time. Math doesn't. The Socialist party and republicans both need to take a basic math class again. I understand that democrats rely on the welfare junkies, libtards and the delusional for votes but it is what it is. Maybe they should start encouraging self reliance and less government tit. I could balance the federal budget in a weeks time. Shit isn't rocket science it's basic math.
It's not necessarily the Tea Party Principles that are so alarming; it's the means the are employing to achieve them. No one is opposed to a balanced budget and all but a few extremists from both sides would agree that we have to get to a balanced budget. Thing is, if we were to take a hatchet to the budget, as you and many other Tea Partiers are asking to do, it would throw the economy into a recession worse than the one from 2008. You won't hear Republicans talking about this but the deficit is dropping dramatically.....some think too dramatically.....and if we can reach a budget agreement about entitlements for the long term, we will be well on our way to a balanced budget. This notion that you make draconian cuts to achieve a balanced budget is one being waged by those who have little to no idea about how the economy works. It's much easier to point a finger and call names (socialists) than it is to actually govern. The problems we face economically as a nation are never simple problems. They are complex and require our best and brightest minds from both sides of the aisle. The Tea Partiers give every indication that they would much rather burn the house down if they can't get their way and it's hurting the country. I am happy to see moderate Republicans; hell, even some conservative Republicans, distancing themselves from the Tea Partiers. It's time to isolate the NUTS (from both sides) and let the adults have a conversation about how to move forward.
I understand what your saying NC. Neither side gets their way, which is good overall. It takes both extremes to cancel each other out. The non-negotiations will have to stop. The budget is like bartering for a product. You want $100 I offer $50. We settle at $75. I don't like the idea of raising the debt ceiling though. We can't keep giving Washington a blank check everytime they come up with another welfare program. We should never gotten away from fiscall responsibility decades ago. We're fast approaching the point of no return if we haven't already passed it. Obamacare is just another dependency program designed to take from the middle class and give govt more control of our lives.
Hey guys....I know I'm posting about aliens balancing the budget and stuff, but I'm being serious for a moment. My restaurant is in a good mixed neighborhood. There are a lot of rentals around here that are part of the section 8 program. One of my neighborhood customers came in and told me that her food stamp (SNAP) account was drained by the state. She said that a lot of her friends were at Wal Mart and they had no money in their EBT accounts....so a lot of them were just walking out without paying...just pushing the baskets out to their cars. Don't know if this is true, but 4 or 5 people told me the same thing. There's nothing in the news about this. The $hit may be hitting the fan.
http://www.wwltv.com/news/local/Met...ems-with-SNAP-food-stamp-cards-227519671.html NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Residents all over the New Orleans Metro Area have reported not being able to use their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamp) cards Saturday. WWL-TV made a call to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services and according to a message left by the agency, October services should not be affected by the government shutdown. WWL-TV is looking into the issue and will provide updates as soon as possible.
My son-in-law works for that SNAP program. He just got promoted today as head of training the field offices. He told me nothing about this, but didn't know what was happening after October.
the problem is that the debt ceiling is poorly misunderstood. passing an increase in the debt limit isn't about incurring new debt, it's about paying for the debt we've already accrued. while a debate about spending levels should always be debatable, paying the obligations we've already made is a matter of being true to our word. you don't strike me as the kind who shirks their responsibilities, whatever our political disagreements, so I am having a hard time understanding why you think it would be okay for the government to do so? I'll grant you that balancing the budget should be a priority that we are working toward so that we do not incur further debt and can begin to pay down our debt, but paying for the bills we've already racked up is a matter of integrity, not political gamesmanship.
