They are related because the Senate wants to handle both at once. Did the Democrats shut down the government in 2006? No. Did the Republicans shut down the government in 2013? Yes! There is nothing here except black kettles. And We The People have surely noticed.
God you still have it wrong. Nobody but the govt. shut down the govt. If you run out of money you deserve to shutdown..
We The People have noticed, that's why Congress...all of Congress...has the lowest approval rating in history right now. And while its true the GOP has a greater disapproval, its also true (at least according to CNN) that the Dems are falling in approval faster than the Reps, from 52% in May to 43% now. GOP has dropped from 35% to 32% in the same time. That may be because some of We The People wonder - if avoiding a shutdown is so important to the Dems - why they don't approve the measures the GOP is sending them to fund the government. It is the Democrats' decision to tie everything to Obamacare.
They want to fund the parts of government that THEY approve of and not the parts that the Democrats want. Why should the Democrats go along with that shit? Nonsense. The GOP has tried 40 times to stop Obamacare through legislation and have failed because they don;t have the votes. Now they are trying blackmail. This whole Tea Party intransigence is about Obamacare.
Which fact didn't you like? The fact that our govt. brings in enough revenue to pay our debt? How about $3T a year in rev. $240B in payments. http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/historicals If you knew I wouldn't have to tell you. But I guess I needed to.
Worse than no facts are bogus facts. Do you actually imagine that the interest on our debt is our only bill? You fail Government 101 and Math 101, too! That interest is the part of our bill that we are legally required to fund. But the budgets for defense, homeland security, Interior and all of the other departments also are a part of what we owe. The salaries of federal employees, the pensions, the infrastructure building, medicare, public housing, welfare, social security, veterans benefits, and hundreds of other budget items all must be paid. Not to mention paying down the principal on the National Debt. In two weeks bills start going unpaid. http://business.time.com/2013/10/08/when-will-u-s-actually-hit-the-debt-ceiling/
Because its the only way the shutdown is going to end. If you honestly feel the shutdown is 100% the GOP's fault, then you should feel the Dems should jump at this opportunity. They can pass the bills, re-open the government, then point the fingers and say, "see? They are the obstructionists, we are the ones who compromised for the good of the country. Nasty, wascally Wepublicans." We all know, the media will take those marching orders and run with them. No shit, Sherlock. Its what they said they would do, and what they were elected to do. And the next time the polls open, we'll see if the public agrees.
You are dreaming. Obama has compromised time and time again with the GOP and they just keep coming back with new demands. He is done with it. Giving in to blackmail just results in more blackmail. The GOP is tripping all over its pecker here. Don't look for the Democrats to give them a way out. They were elected to follow the legislative process and they just don't have the votes, so they are acting like crybabies to get their way. Fugg 'em. Polls? Polls don't mean shit. Look Slick, The People elect Representatives to vote in congress. The Democrats are doing what their constituents elected them to do, too. So let Bohner put it to a vote, lose again, and move on.
