I have to agree with you. Over the years LSU had a huge talent advantage over several SEC W schools. The big advantage was especially evident in depth. That talent advantage isn't as significant. My big issue with Miles has been the lack of improvement from week to week. As well as the stubborn inability to adapt his philosophy to his team. I continue to feel that Miles has had his best days behind him. That the culture here is not what it once was. LSU knew it would pull a close game out. Now, the kids lack that swagger. I feel that goes back to coaching. Miles was never the best X and O guy. He was at his best when he was a gambler. I think he has to find that attitude again. Coach to win. We have to open things up if not for any other reason than to keep the opposing D honest. I hope the coaching changes bring back some swag. Hopefully Miles pulls another gem out this year. The talent is there. Will the focus be there from game to game? Will we not continue to see the same mistakes week to week? If so this team could be special.
I will say that if other teams have caught us in talent level, it is because so many of our players have left early for the NFL. Don't see how CLM is at fault for that. Talent seems to be building back up as we speak, too. Any coach, not just CLM, is a better coach with better talent.
It's his fault. If you know that you're only going to have a player for 3 seasons, you have to stay ahead of the game. 4 and 5 stars are just waiting to enter the draft. I don't know what the right answer will be but you have to adjust some kind of way.
You know what he means. In the West we are the only team trending downwards. This is where we've ranked in the West the last 4 seasons. 2014 - 5th (record tie goes to Auburn) 2013 - 3rd 2012 - 2nd (record tie goes to LSU) 2011 - 1st (SEC Champs)
