Herb Vincent has come out and said it is a minor violation involving illegal contact during the prospect's recruitment. So McCarthy likely went over his set amount of calls to the prospect during a given contact period or violated the Saban bump rule, etc... LSU investigation made public only after questioning | thenewsstar.com | The News Star
Also wanted to add that since illegal contact by McCarthy is the only violation involved here, Hicks is just an innocent bystander. He didn't break any rules and shouldn't catch any flack for it. I hope he doesn't suffer anymore setbacks and brings the pain in 2010.:thumb:
We have seen this before with Nick Saban. We self-reported the same violation and the only penalty we self-imposed was limits in the amount of in-home visits and calls Saban could make in the next recruiting year. Not sure how that would work if McCarthy is no longer with the team but I am sure they could spread some limits across the staff if we go that route.
bhelm, thanks for the updates. I really hope this all goes the way you are saying. From the information I have been given, you are pretty much spot on. The only thing I would add is that I don't think that McCarthy comes out of this still being a Tiger.
Me either... I think that was decided a couple of months ago. I heard Miles was getting other members of the staff in on his current prospects he was recruiting.
If tigers girls keep on coming out and the gators keep drinking this will get no press nationally. Oh yeah, bowden helps too
Colt McCoy was who my buddy compared him to. Colt was a little slow on getting the ball out his Sophomore year, too. (At least that's what he said. I couldn't really say.) The whole "games slows down for him" spiel is what I think he was trying to say.
