Re: Offensive coaching changes and violations?

    In before the lock/thread move!

    Welcome to yesterday night, tb86.

    EDIT:

By the way, you didn't even have to use the search function to find the prior thread, it's on the first page of threads, how did you miss that? Haha.

The advocate posted an article about it today, and there's a likn to it in another thread on this topic. Past the initial report, there isn't much besides rumors. The main one I've heard is that Miles stays, but everything else under offense is gone, result of firing or new job.

I have heard Benton too but even less would come from it and likely nothing at all since he is not at LSU and McCarthy will likely be gone. I would guess Benton is not even mentioned and do not know if anything happened because the report only says 1 assistant and 1 current LSU player are being investigated by LSU.

Miles has known about this for awhile and started delegating other staff members to the recruitment of prospects who were being recruited by McCarthy a few months ago. Never heard anything about any rift between Alleva and Miles. I did hear that Miles was not happy at all when he was informed of the news about McCarthy. I would assume Miles has everything to do with the future of McCarthy at LSU. No tolerance is a good thing in these instances IMO.

As for Hicks being disgruntled, he went down with injury during the spring after climbing up the depth chart. I heard he lost his motivation and getting back from the injury took longer than expected and attitude may have followed. If I had to guess, he was unhappy when he heard from the staff that he would be taking a redshirt year which was the right decision by the staff since he is a Juco with only 2 years to play. No point in wasting one of those years hobbled by possible nagging injuries. Maybe Hicks took it as McCarthy as breaking a promise to him about his playing time in his 1st year at LSU.

It is my understanding that Hicks is still enrolled at LSU and will not be going anywhere.

Again, these self-reported violations are likely very minor and are probably equivalent to breaking contact rules. Nothing to really worry about.

here is my question about it all. if a disgruntled player squeeled on mccarthy, who did it do it to? miles? alleva? the ncaa?

i am wondering how any violations were brought to light and to whom.

and if by the player, what was the motive? if a player, motive particularly interest me because if it was out of true concern for the program that is one thing. but if it is from wanting to see some one brought down....

I have no clue on how or if Hicks informed anyone about anything. Just speculation at this point.

All I am really confident about is that the 1 player at LSU is Hicks, the one assistant is McCarthy, Miles was informed of this awhile ago and unhappy, and that Hicks was disgruntled about the about how things were working out during the Spring after the injury.

We won't get any wins taken away because he didn't play in a game. But there will definitely be penalties if a violation is found, possibly severe. LSU's self-imposed penalties will probably include dismissals and losing a couple of scholarships for a year. We can only hope that the NCAA accepts them and doesn't pile on.

Re: Anybody Know about the recruiting violation that is suppossed to be announced tomorrow rumor?

Scholarship losses are not likely. Like most of the NCAA's accepted punishments recently they will likely include self-imposed suspensions and paying a fine.

It would have to be a major infraction to lose any scholarships.

If in between Major and Minor, dismissal could be a remedy.

Well, this isn't like an unpaid tutor or selling bowl game tickets if it involves a coach.

I'm guessing major if a coach dismissal is imminent.

Maybe we'll get the Bama treatment :thumb: Repeat-repeat-repeat offenders and they get off with just an extension of probation

Losing 2-3 scholarships is a fine punishment with me. That's nothing

Is it possible that we could forfeit our right to play in a bowl game this year as part of self imposed or NCAA punishment?
