Not sure about all the politics or if and when these would be in effect.

    NCAA Recruiting Cabinet Support:

Unlimited Phone Calls during contact period

Prohibiting distribution of media guides to recruits

Limit of 28 signed prospects per class (Already in force in the SEC)

I do agree with the phone calls rule, don't really care about the media guides, and expected the rest of the NCAA to follow suit with the 28 rule.

I am also happy the cabinet opposed a rule that would have prevented HS Juniors to take Official Visits.

The phone call rule is terrible. Idiots like Meyer will have a phone bank of grad assistants making constant calls to kids.

This will be a huge intrusion on their lives. Passing the buck to parents is a bad idea. What parent is going to risk alienating a coach by telling him he cant call anymore or tells him to restrict his calls to certain days or times? Not gonna happen. This will amount to an all out assault by the unscrupulous and relentless recruiters.

This is all about saving money for the institutions.

Good perspective that I didn't think much about. But I also think the way it is done now through back channels of HS head coaches etc... needs to be tweaked.

Ya, there is no question the current setup needs to be adjusted but removing the restrictions in this fashion is placing an undue burden on the kids and their families.

But lets face it, this is all about money. Just take a look at a compliance office these days. The increase in employee's and their associated costs over the last 10 years is HUGE!

There has to be another way to accomplish what they are trying to do.

If the schools want to really save money, Kids should be allowed to sign binding LOI's at any time during recruiting season of their senior year...with escape clauses for injuries, coaches leaving, grades, or any other real concerns by either party. Commitments could be for the underclassmen only!

Just think, LSU's class would be signed, sealed and delivered already...no need for spending chunks of bucks to keep those commitments solid.

And also, It would completely eliminate the Janzen Jackson/Kiffen Bull Sh!t. And the BS that Ruben Randle's dad pulled wouldn't have happened because DeAngelo Benton would have been a done deal.

Kids often want to go ahead and end their recruitment so they can focus on grades or their senior year...Signing the LOI would allow this to happen.
