I wish the sportscaster that interviews Les going into half time would come straight out and ask Les if he should take on at least some of the responsibility for the offensive stagnation year after year and the overall apathy of the team. The question would need to be framed correctly. The question could be framed in many ways as long as it cuts through the fuzz and asks him the real question of whether or not he believes that he is to blame for much of the sloppiness. His unfounded arrogance would likely cause his head to explode.

Great respect should be doled out to any sportscaster who would dare pose that question directly to Les Miles. The question should be asked and it deserves far more of a response than the inevitable shrug by Les Miles.

I also must give a big shout out to whoever manages the forums. The makeover that happened some time ago is fantastic. I really like all of the new features. Thanks for all your hard work.

We need a real OC with full reign of the offense...

The reporters likely fear chastisement such as what T-Bob's dad incurred at the January post-game press conference. LSU administrative personnel shouldn't be straddled with the obligation of constantly shielding Les Miles from criticism. The purpose of the sports press is to partake in real inquiry. For anyone that will make a smart comment in reply, I understand the distortions of the media. I'm in no way saying that the media as a whole, sports or mainstream news, represents the truth. So, please do not attempt to distort the main point of this thread.

And exactly what answer do you expect him to give that will satisfy you? After 7 years we know he isn't firing anyone midseason. We also know that short of NCAA violations (McCarthy) or a glaring, unmitigated failure (Malleveto and Crowton), he won't let go of assistants even if he can upgrade them. From this point forward nothing is going to change offensively from last year, because in his mind it's now cemented that the passing game has been tried and failed with Mett unable to hold onto the ball when the pass rush gets to him.

They probably already know the answer. I can just see sort of an 'I'm the head coach, so ultimately it is my responsibility' type of answer; bypassing the crux of what I think you're getting at which is - whatever you're doing ain't working, so it's time for a change.

At least you recognize the problem in part. I think practically everyone, excluding a few, realize that nothing will break up that cement, not even the world's strongest jackhammer. The cement that is Les Miles' failed offensive ideology is firmly reinforced.

Based on what? Mett was still allowed to throw after he fumbled last night. He had 240 yards and 2 TDs both of which were over 25 yards and one over 50. It's not like the RBs are cementing themselves as a viable option with 4 fumbles last night. If anything last night passing was the only good thing about the offense, minus Sheps run.

Based on the fact that we're entering the roughest stretch of the season against some of the league's best defenses. We can afford to turn over the ball against Towson, we absolutely cannot against UF, Bama and USCe. If your backs fumble there's not a whole lot to be done in-game to control that. But if you know your QB is shaky against lackluster competition AND turns the ball over, you're not putting the game in his hands. At least not until he demonstrates sufficient improvement during games or on the practice field.
