re: Porter to Transfer Will Not Gray shirt If a recruit is good enough to break into the lineup, they usually do it by their sophomore yr anyway. If they spend 1-3 yrs here and don't start, why wouldn't they want to transfer? How is this complicated? Backups are usually FR/Soph, at almost every position.
re: Porter to Transfer Will Not Gray shirt And redshirt sophomores are three years into the system. Not exactly rookies.
re: Porter to Transfer Will Not Gray shirt Is 10 scholarship offensive linemen really enough? If you consider there are 22 postions and 85 scholarships, shouldn't there be 4 people in each position. This would mean 20 OL. What am i missing?
re: Porter to Transfer Will Not Gray shirt Linemen can play at multiple positions and don't require the depth that running back or wide receiver needs. Few teams play more than 8 or 9 offensive linemen regularly.
re: Porter to Transfer Will Not Gray shirt Also with OL, some are interchangeable. ***Sorry SunnyJim, didn't see your post above. What you said.
Porter signed with Kentucky as a defensive lineman and had his 1st practice there. I'm curious what people's thoughts are regarding him as a defensive lineman as opposed to where he projected as an OG? Former Shaw player leaves LSU and goes to Kentucky | NOLA.com
He was projected as an OG because that is where LSU recruited him and he committed fairly early. He played DT throughout HS so that is not a big surprise given he really wanted to play that position anyway.
GD it, I just realized that we could've given him Zach Lee's scholarship if he'd have just waited two weeks.
Don't think so. We were two over the limit and there is someone on the team who was waiting to see what Lee would do and now will get that scholarship. If I had to guess it was Fordham waiting to see if he would be on scholarship this semester or next but no confirmation on that.
