I understand what you're saying but that isn't the Pope or president or any other like dignitary. The security services take over and run the show what ever they desire.
Part of the problem may be the top-down management rather than a bottom-up style. I do not ignore the good things that churches can do for local communities. Martin Luther may have had it right when the protestants thought they could do Christianity just fine without a Pope, gold statues, silk robes, saints, cardinals, and other trappings that a poor boy from Galilee would never recognize. Let the pastor work for the congregation rather than a secret society in Rome.
One more note on little Sophie whose story was originally portrayed as..... "Security tried to hold Cruz back, but the relentless little girl kept reaching. Eventually, the Pope got her message — he helped her out of the crowd and over the barricade to give her a hug. ...Bob Sullivan, a freelance journalist, caught it all on camera and agreed to share his shots. Cruz and her parents, who are immigrants from Mexico, had traveled to D.C. from Los Angeles just for this moment. " The reality was something intentionally different. "Sophie Cruz’s encounter with the pope during a parade in Washington this week looked to be one of those spontaneous, once-in-a-lifetime-moments Francis has become known for. But for 5-year-old Sophie, the chance to wrap her arm around the pope’s neck as he offered a hug, kiss and a blessing unfolded as perfectly as it was scripted by members of a coalition of Los Angeles-based immigration rights groups. For nearly a year the group had been preparing the young girl from suburban Los Angeles to make a dash for the popemobile to deliver a message about the plight of immigrant parents living in the country illegally. They had even pulled off a similar public-relations coup a year ago in Rome with a 10-year-old girl meeting the pope. “We planned to do this from the moment we learned he was coming to the States,” Juan Jose Gutierrez of the Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition told The Associated Press" Way to use a kid, bro.
This pope gives hope and inspires millions around the world; he brings a lot of good in this world. Spin it as you like.
