Patrick Willis retires and now another linebacker Chris Borland retires because he says it's not worth the risk health wise. He's 24, played one season and was really good. Is this going to become a trend? how much does this hurt the NFL? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/blogs/...age-24-due-to-concussion-fears-022911846.html
players may retire earlier as the money continues to go up. but most great football players have it in their blood and play for the sport and competition. they are no worse off than hockey players who make them look like pussies getting their skulls cracked nightly. or boxers or mma who get beat in the head. this has just become magnified because of how big the nfl has become. this will just weed out the fringe players. you know, like the jamarcus russells who dont really care about the game anyhow. i dont think willis was lost due to concussions. i think his last was a toe injury. but a handful of willis' will retire earlier once they bank enough and realize they still want to walk without a limp. no shame there.
Did anyone see the interview w/Borland on ESPN? Impressive guy. He's being realistic and honest about getting his "bell rung" and how that is code for concussion. He gets the big picture.
