Love your enthusiasm but to worry more about Georgia than Bama is not wise. We have a lot to worry about. New QB new OC and a tough schedule. I am optimistic but pragmatic.
We aren't talking about other coaches or other schools. What you fail to realize (or at least it seems that way) is that we, LSU, are in the vortex of the perfect storm. We have a former coach that is more than familiar with the most fertile of our most sacred recruiting grounds. He is also uber successful and has the trophies. We have none of that. We have the legacy of an antiquated coach who was a "great dude" but that doesnt count for much these days. Oh and yes taint you yardbird, he averaged 10 wins but could never get to 11 or more importantly the ONE that mattered. So yes Moe, while there are what 113 or so schools that would love to beat bama, there is only one that really NEEDS to beat bama and if we dont it will get a lot worse before it even starts to get better. It sucks but it is in fact the reality.
What conference do you think we are in? The Sunbelt? Anybody can beat anybody in this meat grinder of a conference we are in. There is no bigger fan than I but there are great schools with great football programs with great facilities with great fans and a lot of good to great coaches. You nor me nor anyone here knows how O and this season will turn out. Why are you getting all bent out of shape and so negative about the season before it starts? All I know is O had a better record last year than the other 2 coaches we considered hiring, Herman and Jimbo. Am I wrong about that? Relax buddy and enjoy the season.
It's not so much just beating the gumps to save his job, but the glaring aspect that unless we can take one or two from saban every other year or so, we are gonna continue to lose recruits at the rate we already have. If we can't match his recruiting, especially on the lines, this shit will never stop until the mig strokes out.
Good grief @Kikicaca we have found the anti-taint. @CajunlostinCali laid it out fairly well. I will now speak to you as if I were speaking to taint because neither of you will ever get it. At least you are on the positive side.
Actually, by shane standards, he's being pretty dam positive. Seriously though, shane's just laying it out like it is.
You could add the other 10 teams to the list who lose recruits to the gumps. We lost Dylan Moses to the gumps right? Well Moses wouldnt even be starting had he signed with us. I did some checking and the gumps wanted Stingley and Rosenthal and Marshall and Fulton and White and Shelvin and Stevens and Chase and Lawrence didn't they? Well they lost all those to us. There is a razor thin margin between a 5 star and a 4 star recruit. We are doing fine at recruiting. Also O has brought in top quality transfers such as Burrows, Feheko, Giles, Moss and Lewis. To beat the gumps we will need a dynamic offense with the right QB and a great defense, which we do have BTW. A dynamic offense is how Ole Miss, Auburn and Utah beat Saban in the past. We have never had a QB capable of beating Saban much less a dynamic offensive strategy to help our QB's. My view is O is on that path to bring in QB's to run a dynamic offense under E. Hope that I am right.
AAAHHHH so am I. Why is Shane "laying it out" any different than me "laying it out"? It's all opinions isn't that why we are all here?
miles did get to 11 wins wins 5 times, got to 12 wins, won an NC & 13 wins, but we lost the rematch. my question is what SEC coaches past or present are getting to that one important win? none. no other coaches are beating saban. urban meyer went running to the Big 10, when he couldn't beat saban or miles in the SEC. miles had the most wins against saban & they fired him. that's insane, now we are paying for it. I don't like the politics at LSU, never have. now we are behind Bama, UGA, Miss St. in the SEC. those games between miles & saban were the hardest hitting, most physical games I've ever witnessed at LSU. I always thought we had at least a chance, but I dont now. I can't delude myself enough into believing orgeron & ensminger are the answer. we scored 10 points the last 2 games c'mon. I'll go to the games, I'll support my team, but I expect us to lose to at least 4 maybe 5 games. don't mean to be negative, but it is what it is.
