Back in the early 90’s pre Saban era when most of the college football was dominated by the Big 12 and Big 10 it was a lot harder to recruit. LSU had not established itself as an elite program under Curly Hallman nor Gerry Dinardo. Both coaches were limited and really made the best of what they could get. The foundation was not laid down and LSU really had no identity yet. Saban s first year he took to that and recruited guys that fit his system much like Michael Clayton, Matt Mauck and Devery Henderson. Converting players like Josh Reed from RB to WR. LSU was disciplined and fundamentally sound across the board; Offense, Defense and on Special Teams. Now I know that 2000-2001 LSU team was no where near as talented as the one that won the natty in 2003 but they were playing with the same intensity. It’s the mindset that he brought into Baton Rouge and the players from that 2000-01-02 team brought into the title run in 2003. A lot of the players that were a part of that 2003-04 season Played in the 2007 title game. Matt Flynn, Jacob Hester you get the point... were leaders thus helping with the development of where we’ve been under Miles for the past 11 seasons. Miles has played Checkers in a game that requires you to play chess. Playing offensive football in a phone booth with very talented players can establish you 9-10 winning seasons or 11- 12 win seasons in a down year in the SEC hence 2011. You have to understand where I’m going here but in trying to shorten what I believe to be true after Jimbo Fisher left the program our offense somewhat sputtered and we were never really as consistent besides 2007 which was a lot of the same players that played under fisher. Miles did nothing to enhance the offensive game plan and failed to develop QBs/ WRs and that’s why we haven’t had success developing them under Miles. The question with Orgeron and Ensminger will they do the same well it remains to be seen but I can already tell you one thing Orgeron has already done more than Miles in 2 years offensively. Now are you going to argue with me?
I have nothing argue with you about. I am one here that thinks O has done a good job under the circumstances he inherited.
If worse case scenario we can always go in house with Dave Aranda. I really think he’s a head coach in the making.
