Point spreads released for nine LSU games Sonny Shipp - 3 hours ago For the ninth straight year, the Golden Nugget, a notable Las Vegas sportsbook, was the first to release lines on a number of college football games for the upcoming season. Nine of LSU’s games were among those where early lines are out and the Tigers were favored in seven of those contests with one of the other two being a pick’em. The biggest surprise was seeing the Tigers favored by four over Auburn and 14 against Florida. The contest against Ole Miss is the pick’em, while the Tigers are nine point underdogs against Alabama. Below is a list of the games that Bruce Marshall from the Gold Sheet discussed with Jimmy Ott on 104.5 FM in Baton Rouge on Friday: Sept. 12: LSU at Mississippi State (LSU by 3) Sept. 19: Auburn at LSU (LSU by 4) Sept. 26: LSU at Syracuse (LSU by 20) Oct. 10: LSU at South Carolina (LSU by 8) Oct. 17: Florida at LSU (LSU by 14) Nov. 7: LSU at Alabama (Alabama by 9) Nov. 14: Arkansas at LSU (LSU by 1.5) Nov. 21: LSU at Ole Miss (Pick’em) Nov. 28: Texas A&M at LSU (LSU by 7.5) The Tigers will also be favored in the three non-conference games that were not listed against Eastern Michigan, McNeese State and Western Kentucky. That makes 10 out of 12 contests the Tigers are the early favorites in as they try and rebound from last season’s 8-5 finish.
Pretty sure he was being facetious. FLA by 14 isn't all that surprising, but, if we win by 14+, it'll happen in the 4th qtr once we've worn them down and are running over them. It'll be close going into the 4th. Doubt ALA will stay a 9 pt fav. By game time, that'll be a closer line, unless our season is imploding by that game.
It's interesting, none the less. When given a choice, who would you believe? A "talking head" like say...I don't know, Cowherd and his picks or see how Vegas has it lined out? This pre-season I've seen a half of a dozen or more pundits pick Auburn to make it to the playoffs—some all the way to the NC game. Now, here we have Vegas favoring LSU in their opening lines. Alabama is favored in their opening line against Auburn.
