A&M loses because they suck on defense. Been that way for years. Where talking about coherent offenses.
all teams stop playing hard when they're getting their ass handed to them, especially in the trenches. trust me, they're happy about playing til reality sets in right after kickoff. a broken spirit is directly correlated with a whipped ass.
Even in the NFL. New England quit when Kansas City was kicking their butts and a week later the made Cincinnati give up early in an ass kicking
Okay, let's apply that to the defensive side too. Even the defensive coaching/schemes are part of our problem. One need look no further than what Dak said. http://ri.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0L...878.html/RK=0/RS=Ps37v2jxkrhXMblPf4bB2KZEmR8- I'm not giving them a pass cause we clearly do have some issues. Our front 4 are practically non-existent, but our secondary is not a weakness imo. In fact it's the biggest strength in any facet (that and our receivers). The Auburn receivers made some remarkable catches that accounted for a good chunk of that yardage. For a good chunk of the rest, our guys are having to cover opponents for a long time since we get zero pressure on the quarterback. Still, it's hard to penalize a defense too much when they have to stay on the field because the offense keeps going 3 and out. This disadvantage was compounded by Auburn's hurry up offense. Bottom line, against Mississippi State and Auburn, LSU gave up a combined 23 plays of 15 yards or more. Again, hard to make that statement without referring to our 3rd down efficiency. People are screaming about being O-fer on 3rd down conversions vs. Auburn but seem to have missed the hint the week before. We were 2-13 in the State game, so our last two games, combined, we're 2-26 on 3rd downs. One thing for certain, our defense will be in triathlon shape by seasons-end.
Hell look at the Alabama game last year. Our O line just quit playing and damn near got Mettenberger killed. I liked Mett before that game but I'm a ZM fan for life now because of the beating he took.
This is what an experienced quarterback can do. It's what our rookie quarterbacks haven't learned yet. Cam and Les can prepare them all they want, but they can't learn to read defenses until they get burned in some real games. That tends to make things click for them. I think this also screams inexperience, especially on the defensive line. LSU is not being manhandled on every down. They are making foolish mistakes and giving up big plays. You must have eaten your Wheaties this morning. Three good points in one post.
