This is how I feel as well. Crowton is horrible, but Miles may be worse in that he is incompetent. Buffoonery is the best description I have seen so far (and it applies to both Miles and Crowton). Miles is a good man from all accounts, seems to run a clean program, and recruits with the best of them, but he is taking way too long to fix this problem. I, for one, am losing patience and confidence that he can actually fix it. It may be time for CLM to go, unless he makes a change at OC pronto - even if he just takes a chance and puts Gonzalez in as temp OC, I don't see how that could be worse. I am not convinced personally that Gonzalez is the long term answer, but CLM needs to make a change, and in mid-season he is unlikely to find a worthy OC to hire. Put Gonzalez in there, see what he can do, and then find a permanent solution in the off-season if needed. I mean, maybe he can get us to 99 in offense. and would probably make better decisions at the end of the game.
I dont see how this can be bad. Its obvious the coaches dont have a clue so Sheppard stepped up. Is it a mutiny, I dont think so. Im sure they are questioning them some by now, I know I would. I just think Sheppard wants guys to step up and FOCUS. Dont worry about the BS coaching. For the record Miles has lost the team and coaching a long time ago. Proof is in the fact that the team has regressed during the season for three straight years. Its hilarious how clueless he is at the end of the game.
I think it's just a team leader seeing things fixing to go in the toilet and he is trying to keep it together. There WILL be a warning by the seniors to keep things in house and DO NOT ad to the media fire. This team will lose a opportunity to salvage a decent season if rumors start flying. Don't forget that the seniors know this means money to them in the upcoming draft. A team that quits will hurt those players looking to go pro. As for the coaches we already know from BYU GC is a one and done guy. As for as Miles is concerned he can only function as a figure head and administrator. When he gets too involved things go to ****. T. Boone has said on numerous occasions that he can't think on his feet. Fire GC today get some consistency on the offensive side of the ball and shoot for an improvement on last years record.
Just a hunch... Kelvin will attempt to circle the wagons. He's going to ask folks to focus; big game coming up next week against Florida. We haven't beaten Florida since 2007. He's a Senior and this team has a chance. Stop turning the ball over. Focus more and cut down on the silly penalties and the dropped passes and all the other mistakes that kill our drives. And the 15 yard penalties against the defense. Players get behind whatever QB is in the game. Give your best effort every play. Support your coaches and don't bad mouth them to anyone. Again, it's just a hunch, but he's a senior and one of our leaders.
The players are going to be addressing their own problems, not the coaches. Four turnovers and a ton of penalties kept Tennessee in this game . . . we were blowing them away in the stats but kept killing drives with foolish penalties and interceptions. The players know that some of the crap the coaches are taking should be on them. Hopefully they are manning up and taking individual responsibility for doing their jobs.
or maybe the playcall was dependent on the defensive alignment and the Vols were in a different formation than he expected? It could be a number of legitimate circumstances, but I think that you're just reading too much into small details. Except of course for Jarrett Lee. I'm sure that you meant top mention his name here after his 2008 season that became so progressively bad that Miles felt forced to start an 18 year old project QB in his place. Let's keep a little perspective here. Absolutes rarely are accurate anyway. By starting Lee over Jefferson, Miles is playing a QB who makes throws that he shouldn't for a guy who can't make the throws that he should. We're simply swapping out QB problems.
I hope it's this, too, but after yesterday, who knows? We can only have our coach look like an idiot so many times before the players won't be able to take it anymore. I've taken up for Miles time and time again, only to have no leg to stand on after the second monumental gaffe in the past year. So, I'm done apologizing for the guy. I hope that the players still believe in him because, if they don't, that's bad for the rest of our season. And I agree that the players were making some serious errors out there yesterday, too. Does that fall entirely on the coaches, the players? Probably both. I thought nothing could ever top the Ole Miss debacle, but I've never seen anything as stupid as replacing the QB who engineered a game-winning drive on the last set of downs for a series. That's where the problem occurred.
I agree...not that this is brilliant, but this is what "Players only meetings" start out to do. Then there will be emotional pleas and some heartfelt apologies. Teams just don't meet to mutiny. This is a good thing. hwr
I agree...........some guys on here have never played a sport in their life and it is obvious.:geaux:
